Hello Everyone,
Finally our trip is here. With all the recent news on road blocks etc. What is the best route to Orient Beach from the airport? Through Marigot or around through Phillipsburg? Only 2 ships in port on Jan 28 and Landing at 1.20. Thank you for the help!

Tom--If it were ME, I'd go the causeway to Marigot.

Hi Carol , the blockage will be before to get to Orient via Marigot , hence French Quarter route .

The road between Hope Estates and Orient Beach was blocked today. The Gendarmes managed the traffic flow but we had to go around the island via the Dutch side to get home. The road was completely blocked by two large pieces of equipment. This is a long standing dispute over whether a land sale decades ago was a legal transaction. (Only in the islands!) In any event more gendarmes have been moved in from Guadeloupe and I expect to will be fixed by Wednesday if not tomorrow. An inconvenience but easily resolved by getting to Orient Beach via the Dutch side

geez. There was one today & another one friday?? Well thats just lovely. At least we know now & will go to friars. Not good for tourists but they don't care about that.

if you are staying on french side I wouldn't go through philipsburg to orient you may not get back here if they move around. Friars is quiet.

Thanks everyone for the advice, seems like a crap shot on which way to go. I guess will go through Marigot

Tom--it's still blocked today, no idea whether it will still be blocked by Saturday.

The road is blocked from the Hope Estate roundabout to Rancho del Sol. We're really tired of this BS.
I'm going where the weather suits my clothes.

The authorities need to get a handle on the situation. That is very inconvenient and waste’s a lot of time. I assume the criminal type roadblocks have ended.
