Chartering off Frenchtown, St. Thomas. What would be the recommended provisioning options?

for a large group a trip to CostUless may be worth it ---- but you can usually find almost everything at Pueblo which is about a 3 minute ride from Frenchtown.

Pueblo is in walking distance and you can taxi back. A few blocks away is Gourmay Gallery for nice selection of more upscale appetizers and excellent deli with fresh bread and gourmet cheese. If you want excellent fresh seafood there is a small market between Gourmet gallery and Pueblo. We always shop on our own, we don't like people picking out our food.

Gourmet Gallery looks like a quick dink from Frenchtown. Does Gourmet Gallery have a good selection (albeit probably more expensive)? It is sure smaller than Pueblo. Plan to pre-order the "heavy stuff"(water, drinks, etc). Again, thanks!

yes you can dink it over, Gourmet Gallery has a much different selection. Meats are frozen at GG, but very good quality. They have a very nice wine selection and better liquor selection then Pueblo. We buy most of our staples at Pueblo, much cheaper. If you want fancy olives, caviar, pate', or cheese, GG is great. We shop at both, water $1 gallon at Pueblo, $2 a gallon GG <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

It's probably worth having the heavy stuff like beer and bottled water handled by the charter company, even if you plan to go shopping for your food.

BTW - we get a box of small bottles of water and refill them from the gallon bottles. We start out by writing people's names on them, but by day 3 it usually turns into a 'free for all.' <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

The fellow who does provisioning for CYOA charges about what a taxi costs. He'll get you pretty much whatever you want, so don't feel restricted by the short list. We like Gourmet Gallery for wine and some liquor that Pueblo does not have. For March I bought everything but water at Gourmet Gallery while my ladies drank at Tickles - worth it.

You can dinghy from CYOA to GG, but it can often be a wet ride back, depending on wind and tide, with a load of groceries.
