Chartering out of STT into BVI then back. Plan to do customs at Cruz Bay. What would be the recommended place to anchor/moor/dock to do this?

you can moor at the closest ball to Lind Pt, or there is room to anchor on the left entering Cruz Bay. The dock is usually used for ferries. As you dinghy to customs, there is a dinghy dock to your left and walk to customs.

In the BVI the Captain can clear everyone in and out with the proper forms filled out in advance -- in Cruz Bay everyone aboard must appear at C&I.
The moorings west of Caneel Bay STJ are all usually a fairly easy dinghy trip to Cruz Bay

We have the US Customs forms filled out on line and print a bunch of them. We then only have to add our guests info.

Also be advised that it's good practice to have everyone remove their hats and sunglasses upon entering the C&I building. They've been really touchy about that at times, not sure why, but it seems to be a thing with them.

C&I at the little custom's house on Jost takes a dim view of sunglasses too.
A couple of years back I witnessed a C&I officer ask a professional charter boat captain to take off his sunglasses. By the indignant sound in his voice, I could tell that he was insulted. I had to stifle a laugh at the charter boat captain for having to be reprimanded about his bad behavior.

I've stopped using the Cruz Bay dinghy dock next to the ferry wharf after the last two times there - way crowded. November we had an 8 seat center console "dinghy" literally on top of our dinghy. There is plenty of room over past C&I at the National Park dinghy tie up.
We anchored 'De Life' in the creek for the first time on Sunday. It's a good spot with good holding if you draw less than 6'. We draw 6' 5" and had to nudge a bit to get out of the mud,.

That's what we do Rick. It holds like glue, only need to pay out 25' of chain or so.

commander500, the creek is the area that the C&I dock and the National Park are in. Its on the east side of the peninsula that holds Christian's Fort. The ferry dock is dock is on the west side.

if you are a u.s. citizen, you don't need to check out. when you get to bvi, check in and out at the same time, then just check back in usvi.
