I'm am going back to my place in Maho. I went down last month for a few weeks and posted a thread about it.

I'm going back tomorrow. This time flying Westjet. Last time Sunwing (Westjet was not flying to SXM at that point).
This time, during the check-in process to get my boarding pass, they now ask to scan in your QR vaccine information (Ontario, Canada).
Not a big deal if you have downloaded it already on your phone (some are still using the 2 printed cards).
It is a good idea to have a printed copy beside you so you can scan it.

Also, EHAS in SXM now wants the QR vaccine information uploaded when you get your QR pre-approval from them. I uploaded to EHAS and had my pre-approval for entry in 1 1/2 Hours.

That seems to be the only difference at this point.

That's all............keep you posted Dr Phjil SXM

I should mention that I am double vaxed and that as of today (who knows over the next few weeks) NO antigen or PCR test is required (as of NOV 1) .

You still require a RT PCR test to return to Canada but it has become a bit more affordable ie:$75

Thank you for the info, we just booked our February vacation and since I was out of the loop on all the new rules- hard to keep them in my head since they change on a daily basis- and this info is bang on what we need to know now. Hopefully it won’t change between now and then….

Glad to help. I will post again regarding my return info.

I should mention once you arrive in SXM, you receive a n email for the next 4-5 days. Usually about 7 a.m. and they are asking you to respond to it by answering whether you have any symptoms and what your temperature is. It does not take long to answer. Maybe 20 seconds.

Cheers

Good morning Dr Phil, Thanks so much for the information. My wife and I and our two 'newbie' friends leave tomorrow morning from Toronto on Westjet, so your guidance really helps ease some of the unknown. I think we are all set and can't wait to get there. We are staying on the French side (La Playa Orient Bay), so hopefully the roads are not blocked anymore.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks Dr. Phil SXM for sharing this info. We are booked again at Mary’s Boon for the 3rd time and flying on WestJet for a February 24th arrival. We really appreciate your updates as we get closer to our departure. Hopefully with the new variant our plans will not be impacted. This will be our 7th time vacationing on SXM. For anyone looking to rent a car we always use Discount with Claude in Nettle Bay. He delivers the car & picks it up at the airport. All necessary insurance is included so there is no trying to figure it out. Never been disappointed!
Is the SXM required insurance still in place? Is that paid at SXM customs arrival?
We will be interested in hearing about your next experience.
Thanks again

Yes insurance is still part of the EHAS approval and paid at time of application not at arrival.

Thanks KGB. Never stayed there but know some people that worked at the American University campus not far from Rainbow.
Hopefully for both us heading down to SXM on Feb.24th all COVID concerns will have settled down. Let’s hope.

We have stayed there a few years ago, we do like the property and it’s proximity to Cupecoy, Maho and Porto Cupecoy, and our fave Bai Rouge…
Having the same concerns about all this Covid - Shmovid travel complications. Hope it will be all right to travel. When this hole thing started, we were on the island in 2019 and were able to catch literally the last WestJet flight to Toronto…
