Hard to believe a week has already flown by but it has. Today is St. Martin Day and Is celebrated across both sides of the island as a major island holiday. Businesses closed and lots of activities going on but given the way the traffic has been on normal days we decided to stay close to ‘home’ and lay low. And we got to welcome some of the new-comers as their flights arrived.
A very pleasant surprise was Jeannie Gunthenan (sp?) stopping by as she made a delivery to an arriving guest here. Jeannie is such a sweetheart……
Breakfast and lunch in as well as cocktail hour on our rear deck to the warmth of the sun and the sounds of the surf. It really doesn’t get any better than this. Honest!
We did finally decide to go to dinner but with no specific restaurant destination in mind we headed up to Porto Cupecoy thinking we’d check out the various menus there. We ended up at a fairly new spot - Big Cee’s - new to us anyway. It may have been there in April but if so, we missed it. It’s all the way to the back of the courtyard, down the stairs and facing the water. The three Cs stand for Carlos, Carlos and Carlos - the three chefs - and all three came from Pineapple Pete’s along with a charming young waiter who came with the group.
We shared a double order of escargot made in a different manner than we were used to and they were very good. John had - what else - rack of lamb and I had a pan sautéed grouper with a pink lobster sauce. His lamb was good but my fish was out of this world. Both were served with garlic mashed potatoes and either steamed veggies or a plate salad. I think mine may have been the best meal I’ve had on island so far. J finished off with a dish of ice cream - salted caramel - that was delicious, too. When we were all done we racked up a whopping big bill of $98.00 with the sc included…….I was surprised it was so low considering it included wine, apps and dessert. The wait staff was very friendly and I will definitely return if time and opportunity allows. Oh,and they do accept credit cards.
It was our intention to stop at the casino there after dinner but when we got to the door we discovered it was closed and shuttered so here we are already in our jammies and ready for lalaland.

It’s been very low-key but so very enjoyable. Dinner last night was very good and the guys from Pineapple Pete’s must be seriously missed from there along with the young man who waited on us.

I missed that in your first note, that the chefs all came from Pineapple Pete. I saw the sign for the CCC place when we were on island in October. We ended up at Mama Pizza, which was good, but sounds like maybe we should have tried the CCC place!!
Doesn't seem like you've been there a week already. It's amazing how fast time flies when you're doing nothing but relaxing!! We had a great lunch at Big Cee's on arrival day. We'll have to try dinner next trip. Enjoy the rest of your trip!!
