Just a heads up: we were planning to get our ID Now tests at our local Walgreens, as their website said it was available at that location. While we were there getting our covid boosters, I asked about it, and was told that they don't have that test, and never have. Good thing I asked!

Huh. That is discouraging, that the website is not correct. Do they have the Binax Now test there, that they administer (as compared to the home test)?

It must vary from location to location. Based on your post, I just called the place where I plan to schedule mine to confirm. It is definitely ID Now, at least at that location.

Called a local Walgreens, they do offer the correct test, but also said that they do not issue a QR code with the results. I didn’t think that it was required, am I right?

No QR code will come with test at Walgreen's. Not needed. Once you submit the completed EHAS form and upon approval, you will receive a pre-authorization form which will include a QR code for use at the airport.

Some Walgreen's do the ID-Now, some do the regular PCR and some do the BinaxNow. If you book an ID-Now that's what you will have done. Some do both PCR's...and the advance booking time looks to have been increased to 5 days prior....
We have scheduled a CVS PCR since there was a 14 day advance booking availability but will cancel if I can get the ID-Now at Walgreen's scheduled

I just got my ID Now tests results from Walgreens yesterday and it had a QR code. Also as to the original post, GaKaye is correct, their website is not totally correct. You should call the individual locations direct to be sure. And on that note, don't hit the buttons regarding COVID Testing, it all automated. Hit the choice to talk directly to the pharmacist. Some stores do both, some one OR the other and some neither. They also run out of supplies, but their automated scheduling show available appointments. I ended up having to pass 4 different Walgreens to get to the one I eventually used 2 towns over. Not a big deal, but glad I new ahead of time instead of wasting precious time.
As I said in a previous post, tested at noon and had my approval from EHAS at 4:00PM, all in 1 day.

Interesting....when I filled out the questionnaire and did a mock appointment application it shows which Walgreen's does which test and appointment availability for each...some do both others only one. Are you saying that making an appointment at a location that does the IDNow is not reliable?

I have a friend who also had an IDNow appointment and when she showed up they stated they had no test kits available. After reading of another occurrence of the same thing, I called the local Walgreens and said I was planning to schedule a test on Saturday for next Wednesday (they have extended the scheduling time frame to 5 days) and inquired if they had any issue with test kit availability and was told that though he could not guarantee availability, they have had no issues to date. Hopefully these are isolated cases.
As a backup plan, I also just ordered the BinaxNOW with eMed services.

Whenever I tried to schedule that, the website said that no appointments were available. When I went into the store, I was told that they don't offer that test, and that they never have. I was also told that if I was able to make an appointment, it would just be canceled. It does pay to visit or call just to make sure.

I wasn't able to actually schedule an appointment, but when I asked in person at the store, they said if I had been able to make the appointment, it would have been canceled, since they don't have that particular test. So yes, that's possible.

I have found that appointments for the fifth day out are loaded after midnight and are usually gone by mid-day. After midnight tonight my desired date will be loaded, and I'm crossing my fingers I can get the time I want.
