There are some things that I have a tendency to forget, until I get to SXM. These are some of them, in no particular order...
**** I LOATHE Billy Folly Road!! OK, perhaps it has something to do with wishing for better shocks on the rental vehicle, but SERIOUSLY!! Billy Folly Road could make a lot of money being a body double for the surface of the moon.
***** There is a sign going down BFR that says "BUMP"... Which one?????????
***** Mark's Place serves a LOTTA, LOTTA food! Look at the size of this plate!
***** Mark's food has a LOTTA, LOTTA, LOTTA GARLIC!! We had leftovers from dinner last night that we put in the fridge, and it is stinking up our fridge, with the smell of garlic!! But, their garlic bread is da BOMB.
****** 9:30 AM on a Sunday morning is a good time to go to Marigot. Actually, 9:30 AM on a Sunday morning is a good time to go ANYWHERE, if you don't want to deal with traffic.
***** People on mopeds will go around you anywhere, to get ten feet ahead--even if they just come to a complete halt after 10 feet. (Sorry, no, no one who has ever been to SXM will forget that!!)
***** It can be October, but traffic will still be backed up stopped in Simpson Bay, for no apparent reason.
***** It doesn't matter what type of bread you buy. If you don't keep it in the fridge, in four days it WILL be moldy.
****** Market Garden's prices are a rip-off... Now, we KNEW that for years. But here's a case in point. We bought this mustard at Super U in Marigot, for $1.61, paying cash at $1.15 per 1 Euro.
At Market Garden, the SAME mustard was $4.33. And NO, that is not guilders. I went back and looked, just to make sure.
***** Saba is a shy lady. If you see her, take her picture to remember what she looks like, as you may not see her again.
***** Don't bother to buy quiche at Zee Best, as they are the WORST! Seriously, quiche from Le Suciere is the BEST!
So, what are the things you forget, until you are on island??
Also, turn signals on cars are to be tested. No reason for them to be on for miles at a time but they have to be tested.... And when it is time to turn, no one turns them on.. ???????????
Sign says "Bump" --- which one-- there are 100's going down that hill..... then you have the speed bump down by bucaneeer.... but that could not be what the sign was talking about, because you had the washboard before that!!
Going to Grand Case from Marigot, turn at the normal location and going to turn right 1/2 way up to go over to the bridge area and old Calimos..... road blocked... construction ... hole that would eat your car... so continue up to the corner at Bistro Caribes.... now we continue
And we will not talk about the total cluster *&%% today.
Just saying the thought was I saw another car (two cars) ahead turn right.. so how much traffic could there be.. but concrete truck staring me in the face about a block down the road .... rental car vs concrete truck.... any way rental car can win???? Does that count the car that I thought I would follow..... rental car vs concrete truck.... other car is backing up in reverse.... rental car vs concrete truck...... back up in reverse, just barely... honked at... rental car vs concrete truck..... take the honks, back up and run away from the concrete truch with the rental car the other way..... do not know the result of the other rental car vs the concrete truck.. not my problem...
Last I saw in the rear view mirror was concrete truck.... Concrete truck wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just think without the bumps and pot holes BFR would be a speed way like no other. It's the shoulder parking along Peli Deli and Isola that drives me crazy.
The double parking there is a real pain.... always wonder how I DO NOT take out my side mirrow. And they can park at the lot I think if they are eating there, or have comp parking if in the casino??? do not understand it at all???
The only thing i usually forget until I'm on the Island is how much I really love being on the Island. Hope today, tomorrow and the days to come are all good ones! And wow that plate of food from Marks Place is something else!
I love that word LOATH!!! Picture this, it's early in the morning, leaving BSV, on the way through the golf course on my way to pick up pastries and the paper at Jordan village. Taking in the beautiful sunrise over Mullett beach and all of a sudden, you have "Mario freak'n Andretti" and a bunch of "Evil Knevil's" right up on your bumper trying to do 100MPH!! Through that god forsaken chewed up pothole riddled winding lil road!! AND if the bumps weren't bad enough?? There speed bumps too!! Yes, Carol I LOATH that! It's all good back at the villa!!! Yes, starve all day before going to Mark's place!! IMHO, one the BEST restaurants on the island!! Last one, LOATH the bar tenders at SSBB!!! LOL!!!
