Anyone ever been to Cambium and how was it. I'm booked there for May 3rd and wondering what to expect.
Any info is appreciated.

SO... Where is this Cambium? Mexico or Dominican Republic?

looks like in same area as Caliente caribe , but not on the ocean (thats a negative to me- dont want to be in a hut out in a field somewhere)

How do I include some pictures?
I took some that would give you a better idea of the surroundings and accommodation.
The ~ 10 houses that I saw were either 1 or 2 bedroom fully equipped houses with nice bathrooms ( 3 to 4 star quality ). They all are equipped with ceiling fans and solid roofs. The open slat windows were very well screened so there were very minimal mosquito or other flying creatures to be worried about - my wife usually is a magnet for them and she didn't have a problem. There were no mosquito nets required.
The homes are about 1000 to 1500 square feet in size and some of them had their own private pools but the one we stayed in was in the Palm Garden part of the development which shared a nice pool and deck area with several other homes within 20 yards of the pool.

My wife and I rented a casita in the Palm Gardens section this past February/15.

Basically, Cambium is broke. They have let their roads deteriorate to the 4x4 level. They have cancelled their internet service. The canteen is closed. The grounds, flowers, bushes are getting seedy. Our roof leaked.

But believe it or not we had a good time. There were very few other guests. We had the pool mostly to ourselves.

Diogene, theit security man, who is the only employee with his head on strait, was extremely helpful. Without him and his wife, we would not have stayed. Just too many things were not right. Diogene helped to fix whatever he could. And his wife, Clarinet, is a good cook. She did our evening meals every night.
Oh and the manager/owner François stiffed me for $10.

When we were there last year the grounds were constantly being machetteed down as the growth occurs very fast.
There were ususally guys building materials for the next house ( doors etc. ) at the small carpernter's area off one of the local roads.
The roads were rough when we got there and the rental company advised we would need a high or 4x4 vehicle, especially if it rained as the underlying clay would get wet.
Diogene was there when we were there and he is the glue that keeps it going and he lives in the nearby villiage.
There were a couple living in the house next to us overlooking the pool ( Ken and ?? ) who used to be the management and had a pretty good insight into what was generally going on.
The houses are privately owned and many were occupied when we were there with committed owners.
I tried to check the web site and it appears to have been reduced and offers limited information and I had trouble finding who to contact - I wondered if it was having trouble.
Lets hope not as its a beautifull setting and could have great naturist potential with its open scenery and several walking paths.
