Didn't I see that the CDC placed SXM on the no go list according to a recent CNN news bit? Last week I think.

It is new. About 2 to 3 weeks ago the CDC and the US department of state put Sint Maarten on the highest level of COVID concern, level 4. St. Martin (French side) has been on that level for many months maybe a year now. How the CDC makes the distinction between the two countries with no border control, I don’t know. But it is new that Dutch Sint Maarten is now at level four.
