Actually the USVI is no longer allowing the antibody test for entry from anywhere. They started with the BVI but just did away with it from any country. If you were vaccinated in the USVI and have proof of vaccination you can return to the USVI without a PCR or antigen test, otherwise everyone has to get tested within 5 days of arrival (2 days from BVI).

Planning this trip has been quite the emotional coaster for the last year and a half. I wonder what the chances are that it will actually happen 3 months from now…

We have a trip booked for Feb 2022, and are in the planning process of booking another for December 2021. This testing and BVI portal brings a whole new set of planning challenges. I thought I read in a recent post where you can bring your own "at home" test with you to the BVI to use before re-entry to the USVI. Is this correct? We're flying in and out of STT both trips and plan to use Dolphin Water Shuttle for transport.

Yes, you can but it must be the proctored test available from eMed.com.

Jason - can you explain a bit more? We haven’t travelled anywhere since March 2020 - ugh.

As you know, you must test to return thru the USVI or PR. The requirements are slightly different but if you are vaccinated they will allow a rapid antigen tests. Those are available in the BVI at several clinics. Alternatively, they also allow a home rapid antigen test but it must be the type that is proctored by a telemedical service. There may be others but the only one I am aware of is available at eMed.com. You can bring those with you and use that test for your entry back into the USVI or PR.

Odds are very good that this information will be outdated by the time you travel. Check back a week or 2 before you travel. Your best information is going to be on the USVI Travel Portal

There is another test on the market now for $50. I have not heard of anyone using this one yet. https://www.azova.com/testing/ellume/

That's great news. I figured it was only a matter of time before someone came to market with something new.

If anyone is on island between now and August 26th, I have some extra tests from eMed.com that I don't need.

Used the Ellume test along with the Azova observation (they proctor the test) last week from Marina Cay (hope that place comes back!) last week. Submitted the results for the 3 of us to the USVI portal and got approval overnight, no problem.

$40 for the test (bought at CVS and brought with us) and $15 for the proctoring. Very easy process!

Keep Smiling!!!

Hello!
I know this is a 'worst case scenario', but what happens next in the event one of our vaccinated family of 6 tests positive ??
(Maybe we should go to the FL Keys this trip?)

Contender - it is my understanding that everyone Q’s together until there is a negative test result. I am sure others will chime in if I am incorrect.

Stay in the Keys or sail in the Keys? Sailing the Keys, IMHO, is not worth it, especially if you are used to the Virgin Islands.

I agree on sailing in the keys. I would also take a look at Florida’s covid numbers. They are truly horrid!

If you are considering not doing the BVI because of the testing, maybe think about the USVI. We did 3 sailing trips there this past year and we had a fabulous time. Of course it isn't the BVI but beautiful all the same.
