Totally out of control, here in Florida. Not sure what measures they could take at this point, other than a 9 PM curfew, something like that?

Well, for starters the governor could let the different communities decide when and where to mandate masks or face coverings. He did just the opposite with his recent executive order that would withhold educational funding to school districts that require masks be worn in schools at all times. And, yes an earlier curfew would likely be helpful.

Sorry, I should not have brought Florida into this. What I meant was, what further measures could the Sint Maarten government take to mitigate Covid there?

The daily herald article says wear your mask... where? Masks on masks off. Enough is not enough! The PCR is not 100% accurate. The vaccine is not what it said it was. It is not stopping the virus and the mutations. Fully vaccinated are getting the virus and some are being hospitalized. The FDA has yet to approve the jab for the public. It was a crap shoot and it is not working. Now what? Lockdowns, curfews and a collapse of the economy?

Convince the residents to get the vaccine....masks are not the answer but just a "Do something" kinda thing ...vaccine is the answer.

Are any hospitality-focused businesses (hotels, restaurants, etc.) on either side of the island requiring vaccines for their employees? I don't mean to start a debate about whether it should be done, but I'm just curious if it might be happening like it is some places in the United States.

No clue but requiring/mandating something just pizzes people off. They have to believe that this vaccine is safe and effective and that THEY want it.....and that is up to those in authority who they listen to....

I guess you must be looking at the medical data to come to this conclusion. However, the medical data that we have seen shows that those who have received the vaccine, and subsequently been exposed to the Delta variant, have had a better outcome than those who have not been vaccinated. For those who did become infected, the severity was significantly less than those who were not vaccinated.

The unvaccinated are going to get dangerous symptoms if they catch the variant but the vaccinated are not going to know they have the virus because the MRNA vaccine is masking the symptoms. The unvaccinated are going to isolate because they know they are sick but the vaccinated are going to spread the virus unknowingly. IMHO

The vaccine is not masking the symptoms, it is eliminating them. The whole purpose of the vaccine is to keep people from dying and it is doing the job. The sole reason that this disease is spreading like wildfire is because people refuse to get vaccinated. If 80-90 pct were vaccinated life would be back to normal. As it stands at the moment the vaccinated can and should go about their daily lives. The unvaccinated should either stay home or risk infection and possibly a truly horrible death.

My thoughts exactly. Your refusal to get vaccinated is your problem, not mine.

Well said, Sunfun. It is those that refuse to get vaccinated that are causing the continued spread, and variants.

And once again, this has become a general topic, for which neither side can convince the other. It seems that until some people catch it themselves, they will not be convinced.
This one is done.
