I've seen this on multiple Facebook sites. It's not reflected on the EHAS page yet.
"COVID-19 Insurance for St. Maarten price decrease
The cost for COVID-19 insurance to visit St. Maarten for non-residents has decreased from US $30 to US $15.
The decreased cost is reflected in the St. Maarten EHAS form and is applicable as of August 1, 2021.
The decreased price for the risk management insurance comes as tourist arrivals to the country increase.
(Source: Govt. of St. Maarten)"

If the source is the SXM government, why is it not on the EHAS site yet?? If you click on the link there about the insurance, it still says $30. August 1 is only 3 days from now..

I guess it's good they are reducing the price, since I find it pretty useless regardless. I have been pointing out from the very beginning, their much touted medical evac insurance is totally worthless, since you cannot get a medical evac from SXM for $20,000, which is their max.

I don’t know about SXM, but there have definitely been visitors in Aruba who tested positive and were moved to quarantine accommodations.

I too would like to see metrics on cases/outlays vs intake from this insurance.

We know people who went to isolation here who could not leave due to positive testing when ready to go home. Not something people talk about.

The price has dropped by the insurer because we have more people arriving which brings the price down. That was the plan from the very beginning.

Elaine--I know, silly me, to expect them to change something on the website in a timely fashion.

Elaine--Agreed, if someone tests positive, then they are not likely to be talking about it too much..

Why would it come up early? It begins August 1st, why would they put it up now?

While it may be "Facebook Official", until I see it on an actual SXM government site, it is not actually official. If in fact it is changing, a little notice might be a consideration.

OK, sorry. I couldn't remember the chronology, but thought you didn't pay for the insurance until you had been approved..

Yep you pay when you apply. Insurance issued when EHAS is approved.
