We had heard he moved and had no idea where Carousel was. It is by La Sucriere bakery and Capuccino Bar. We stopped in. Parking immediately in front is limited but at night the real estate place next door isn’t open.

It is a big step up for the restaurant, the distillery and the new gelato operation which is the first thing you encounter in the nicely air conditioned circular foyer. The distillery and gelato making rooms are glassed in surrounding. They have nice bathrooms which was a real negative to the old place.

The restaurant is out the back overlooking the water. We didnt eat there this time but partaked in myriad of new rhum flavor testings at gelato.

Are the nostalgic pictures still displayed on the outer perimeter of the building?

Topper had pictures posted on facebook of the new place. It looks amazing. The actual restaurant part is in the room behind the old gelato location, right where the carousel was located. Pics look amazing!! It is a shame that the carousel is no longer in the building that was specifically built for it, but such is life i guess. Wish Topper much success in this new and improved venture.

I'm happy for Topper but sure will miss the carousel. Wonder if it will make a reappearance somewhere else. We've had many fun times with the grandkid riding the teacups and making her dizzy. The nostalgic pics were cool, hope they're still there. The whole place was always so immaculate, including the restrooms, one of the cleanest places I've ever been to on the island.

At some point, the carousel is supposed to be at the airport.

This was our first time to go to Toppers as we usually stay on the French side and eat at the many fine restaurants in the Village or Grand Case. Therefore, we have no comparison to the former Toppers. The snapper and stuffed mushrooms there were amazing! My husband loves onion rings and said theirs were very good. Service was good. We sat next to water (inside). There are large windows that patrons can adjust. We found the place to be very clean, almost sterile. There was karaoke the night we were there. After dinner we had a rum tasting and bought the salted caramel and apple pie flavors. Can’t wait to share with friends back in US!

We will definitely return to Toppers next trip!

On another rum note - We really enjoyed going to the Ma Dou Dou rhum store in Cul-de-Sac for tasting and purchases. The proprietor is lovely and great fun!

Went to Toppers on July 21 with 20 family members as part of our Anniversary. Best time of the whole week on the Island with most of the family partaking of the Karoake. The food was good in toppers fashion and the service was great. The new place is spanking clean and a treat to be there. Topper and Todd King were our hosts and extended themselves to the enth degree.

We heard from friends on the island now that said it’s an abomination now and he ruined that place. Anxious to check it out the next time we return, we always enjoy going there not really for the food but just to people watch for a little bit of the fun. Seems nothing like the roadside place he made so popular and it’s lost that simple appeal. I do like the rum but is it really a distillery? Again I heard it’s basically just adding flavoring to run that they buy in bulk. I do like it, I guess its just all about the hype I guess.

We haven't tried it this trip but every time we passed by, the parking would have been an issue. There didn't seem to be any. That said, I guess the new location is a hit as the inside lot and street parking was always full. Maybe next trip--we had visited the distillery previously and enjoyed the rum tasting.
