Ive always liked deplaning onto the tarmac. I understand mobility issues and dont mind a ramp. Unless going a half mile or something I hate shuttle buses and this time we were just unable to be in bus #1 so we were first on bus #2 so that ment literally the last on the plane having been Group 2 to board.
Checkin was orderly and quick. Security entrance guy watching everyone scanning boarding passes was slow. They had two scanners why not use them? Security itself pretty quick.
The makeshift bar at gate 8 is great but out of Carib, crazy. But nice use of the space.
The whole boarding gate area was well air conditioned compared to 18 months ago.
The gate announcements are near impossible to hear and lots of not so polite people jockeying to get on the darn bus.
Delta got to walk to the plane.
If you had never been to the fancy terminal, this one would pass for a functioning island airport.
Immigration/covid check and bus ride needs improvement on arrival.

When we left this last May we were able to walk to our plane. Luckily it wasn't raining.

It's a horrible joke the way they have dogged it !! I've never seen a construction job so botched up in my life!!! People bitched about the old airport, but this???? I'd take the old airport over this mess any day!!
Sand Gravity, got to love it!
