Sounds like it potentially will get interesting on the French Side in August...and how does a visitor get a "Health Pass"? As of August, the health pass is required to be shown for commercial centres, bars and restaurants, trains and planes as well as in hospitals and retirement homes. Restaurants that fail to check health passes face stiff fines. Vaccinations are now mandatory for nurses, health workers and retirement home employees.
It was understood from the Préfecture that all the measures will apply in St. Martin, however, confirmation of this is awaited when the decree is signed by the préfet.

It's a really tough call!! Liberty is key, but today, you just don't know WHO is carrying this bomb!! IMHO, it's simple, get vaccinated, keep the numbers going down and the doors open!!

Sometimes it is just right thing to do for the good of "all people" not just the trampling of "someone's individual rights"!

Sometimes it is just right thing to do for the good of "all people" not just the trampling of "someone's individual rights"! Let's have this conversation in 4 or 5 years when the human trials on the general population have more data.

The vaccine is available on island for those who wish to partake. Many are partaking, others our making cautious, conscious decisions.
The UK has said under 18s should not be vacinated. What are they looking at?
Over 50 in US and SXM pretty clear you should do it. Under 50, TBD.
And what is holding up final approval? What data dont they have? Or do they have?
We took it, but dose two was not trivial and still feel strange things that did not exist before the shot months later?

That explains the use and purpose but what IS a Health Pass....how does a person get it....is it digital and if so is a paper copy of vaccination ok for acquiring it

The protest is not about the health pass (port). Anyone can get a health pass, it is an app showing that you do not have COVID 19, Vaccinated, unvaccinated, negative COVID 19 test or an antibody test from having CV19 and recovering would give you a health pass that allows you to go to restaurants, museums etc. The protest is about an overreach by Macron to control the people and take away the freedom, liberty and rights of one to live free. Yes, it is your body and your choice. But the virus doesn't know that. Why can't people understand this is a VIRUS. It doesn't think or reason. It becomes more infectious as we try close in on it with our wonderful vaccines. The more people who run around unvaccinated the more they will pass this latest variant on to others who also chose not to get vaccinated, and that could include children who may not be able to get the vaccine on SXM yet. If you get cancer and decide not to get treatment (i.e., chemotherapy), that is your choice even if they tell you it is terminal. But, a highly infectious virus is a whole different scenario. This is no longer doing what is right for just you, but what is right for all if residents and visitors of St. Martin. Let them protest, but in the end my hope is that they will come to their senses and get vaccinated.

Because from everything I hear/know about the FDA--it takes YEARS to get something passed through them. Right now, there is not the time.

SO nothing yet about tourists...Health Pass only for those vaccinated in areas of French governing... It is part of the (French citizens-only) Covid tracker app TousAntiCovid. For people who were vaccinated in France this is pretty simple – they scan the QR code on their vaccination certificate into the app which then generates a code which they can use to access any location. It is not looped into results/cards from the U.S.
So what about tourists and visitors? The TousAntiCovid app is available in the app store and works on non-French smart phones. If your phone settings are to English, the app will largely appear in English on your phone. Since it won’t show American test results or vaccines info, it will really just be to track your movements and alert you if you have been exposed to the disease while in France.
Last Tuesday, a French government spokesman said there would be a ‘relaxation’ of the rules for people vaccinated outside the EU who cannot easily use the French health pass. The foreign ministry promised a country-by-country breakdown of how this will work but as of today there is nothing new to report.

There is a reason why the FDA takes it’s time to get approval of drugs because it could have long term side effects 3 years into the clinical trials. We will not know what the side effects are till time passes but will questions our choices later on. The third to be President just had two staffers test positive and both were fully vaccinated. This is the trials of a MRNA vaccine that was given to 50% of Americans. We better prepare for what could happen because no one really knows the ramifications of this experimental product.
