Saw the website, some of the stuff on the menu just did not make sense at all.
Just that so far mexican or tex/mex seems like what we want tonight. Could change, but that is our thought right now. Who knows when it is time to start the car?
For those that do not know, it is the same location that Bavaria was in. So German to Mexican food.

Hi Carol,
We dined there last month. We went on a Monday night for all you can eat tacos, and weren’t impressed with the food nor the service. We were the only two sitting at the bar and were never offered a second drink. The all you can eat special was advertised as $15.95 and we were overcharged when we got the bill.
The restaurant was not busy, but the servers were very disorganized.
Several of our friends living on island wouldn’t recommend it either.

OK, not interested in all you can eat. Reviews I have seen online seem to be the service is spotty and the food is good. We'll see.

We ate at La Patrona a while ago. Not bad, but wanted to try something different.

Bandito's was so so and we were there fairly early after they opened so giving them a bit of a chance to improve. 3 Amigo's was pretty bad with the two chances we gave the place, especially the cocktails. La Patrona is better than both of those and has decent cocktails but it would not survive on the West Coast for a month at the price and level of food. Cocktails were decent, food was for the most part good but not great.
Taco Macho was not really that great, but I sure liked that place vs these others and the price point at Taco Macho was on point.
If you like Mexican Food and are ever near Newport Beach CA I highly suggest Javier's, not SXM and certainly not inexpensive but worth every dime.
Cheers, Todd
I prefer the Isle seat

Well, we are back. We thought it was pretty decent. There was a server who actually showed up after we were seated, so not sure what the service was before that, but we had no complaints. The food was pretty good. I would go back..

Well done for going. Everyone’s tastes and expectations are different and thank goodness for that. Reviews are just that, reviews, good or bad but do also have to be lucky at times with service and of course the actual food.

So happy your experience was better than ours!
I don’t have high expectations, but I do expect good service. The restaurant not busy and there was a bartender and two servers on staff. The bartender asked the waitstaff to dissuade diners from ordering frozen margaritas.
I also forgot to mention that the first plate of tacos we received were very good The second plate of tacos were a completely different kind of taco and not so good.
Another reason for our negative , but honest review.

There was one server (after he showed up), plus the bartender when we were there, plus the owner (I think) was there. Our service was good, once the server showed up. The bartender, a lady, didn't seem to speak really good English. I have pretty low expectations of Mexican food, in general, but as I said, I would go back.
If you want to talk about miserable service, we had absolutely MISERABLE service at Da Watering Hole. There, I don't think I will go back, for a VERY long time.

LOL, Every bartender everywhere hates frozen drinks. The Island Oasis frozen drink machines were the bane of bartenders when they came on the market. The sound of one frozen drink being made led to a dozen others being ordered.

I recalled this morning that the bartender told us she didn't have any cocktails. I think she doesn't know how to make cocktails. It didn't matter to us, as we ordered a bottle of water and a couple of glasses of wine.

Lol. We were sitting at the bar and could see the amount of effort for the frozen drinks. My non frozen margarita was ok. Marc’s bottle of beer was rather pricey at $6.
