Personally elimination of buffets is an improvement in any dining situation. As for mask.... 100% crew and all passengers should be vaccinated thus minimizing the mask requirement. No shot no boarding! For the non-vaccinated please quarantine until herd immunity has been achieved so the rest of us can move on with life. Norwegian looking to move out of Flordia because of recent legislation - NCL to leave Flordia

Story also correctly stated “ However, cruise lines that can prove that 98% of crew and 95% of passengers are vaccinated will be allowed to skip this test sailing period.”
CDC has no say in cruise ships departing from non U.S. ports. Of course nothing has started sailing from U.S. ports yet, and this CDC guidance has received push back, especially from NCL Holdings CEO Frank del Rio.

Tom--I'm not a big fan of buffets myself--anywhere, land or sea, even pre-Covid. But mask requirements around the pool, that isn't happening. Florida officials are a bunch of morons and it will cost Florida BIG bucks because the cruise lines need to require everyone to be vaccinated to sail safely. No way that 95% of passengers will be vaccinated unless it is required. I've not been following it super closely, but I guess Royal Caribbean still has some cruises scheduled from July this year from Florida, but I don't see how that's going to happen.

Good on them !! I wish NCL would come back to New Orleans, they are our favorite. RCCL is second, and Carnival is way back there bringing up the rear. According to my travel agent, NCL nor RCCL has no plans to return, so Carnival is the only boat in town. We will travel to Galveston for our future Cruises as long as RCCL is sailing from there.

o2bnsxm,
Do not give up hope of NCL returning to NOLA.
Del Rio, the CEO of NCL, is quoted as saying, "But, at the end of the day, cruise ships have motors, propellers and rudders, and God forbid we can’t operate in the state of Florida for whatever reason, there are other states where we do operate from. [Or] we can operate from the Caribbean … we certainly hope it doesn’t come to that.”
I am with Carol... I cannot believe FL would do anything that would risk the gold mine of the cruise industry.

Yes, he is a moron. I am out of town at the moment, so didn't see that. The Florida Legislature is not any brighter, picking fights with the cruise lines..

I guess this topic could turn into the old CE thread so I will let it drop. But I am following closely to see what NCL decides to do. And I am sure there are ports from MD to GA that would love to be home port to the 3rd largest company in the business since FL will not miss them.
