Anyone have any experience with bringing a dog with them to the BVI? My review of the rules appears that we won't have any quarantine to deal with as long as we complete the appropriate requirements to confirm vaccinations and have all of documentation before we arrive. We will be on a boat for the trip but will be staying in BVI waters for the entire trip. No need to point out that this is not a good idea since it is for our guests and not something we would personally recommend. Mainly trying to see if there are any things that I need to be looking out for.

There is still arrival testing and a one-day quarantine. Private boats cannot yet enter except by licensed delivery.

Most airlines won’t carry a dog as cargo in the summer. There are to many ways for it to go bad. The airlines recently got rule changes approved that should dramatically reduce the emotional support animal scam so getting the dog in the cabin could be a issue unless it’s a small dog that fits in a kennel under the seat. If that’s the case it should not be difficult to bring the dog to the BVI.

I am thinking he is referring to having to quarantine the dog as required by some countries.

See the attached information from the Humane Society. As I read it, there is a possible 3-6 month quarantine. See point 5 on the 2nd page.

I think in practice, most animals are inspected and allowed to "quarantine" with their owners but your guests may be well advised not to take that risk.

Appreciate the info.

Sorry, I should have clarified that this is for a November trip. George and Jason were correct that I was looking to see if I had to worry about a dog quarantine not a human one. We have had our boat delivered a couple of times to the USVI so we are well aware of the restrictions on that front. On that front I highly recommend Roan at Tender Too if you need a licensed delivery captain to move a boat in or out of the BVI.

For this trip we would be entirely in the BVI which is where our boat is based. Planning to fly into Beef Island for this trip. We have a private jet for this trip so their pet will be flying in the main cabin and probably sitting on someone's lap. Probably have some additional protocols for private jet arrival but that problem belongs to the air charter company not me.

Roan is the best!!

On a slightly related note, I highly recommend Roan for a day trip. He has access to different sized boats for different groups. He's happy to cater to exactly the activities that you want so sometimes it's better than pre-planned shared charters. Great guy, very safe!

CDavis--If I were you, I would not want to take responsibility for something possibly going wrong in this situation, as that would be a major FUBAR.

Jason--Is it possible they could get in contact with a local vet, who could help ensure they have everything they need and that there are no last minute problems?

Contact Officer Deveaux. He is the veterinary officer in the Apriculture Department that will process the dog's entry. He is very helpful in giving you all of the information about what is required.

You can reach him at 284-468-9247, or email him at vet@gov.vg.
