Hi, Anyone have experience on Moorings' 514PC? I've been told that the hydraulic dinghy lift "usually doesn't work". If that's the case, can it easily be raised and lowered manually by winch?

I saw one report that it was a very significant problem and caused charterers to have to tow the dinghy in the water behind the boat. I have a hard time believing that - could easily swamp the dinghy and one would need to remove the outboard before moving.

On a separate note, if anyone has owner's time usable on the 514, please PM me.

I have a lot of experience on the 514PC and have never had it not work. One time it stopped working and we found the breaker and reset...

Nothing is like a dinghy lift. We have towed the dinghies many times before hydraulic lifts. Make sure the dinghy motor is up, the motor is secure to the dinghy, and the painter is long enough to keep it on top and center on the boat wake. Not much water got in the dinghy in our experience towing

I think it would be a major issue if the elevator were stuck in the lowered position and you were operating the 514

I have the owners manual if you need it...

When we were in the BVI in January, the PC next to us was having issues with the hydraulic lift and they moved them to a different boat.

There have been issues with the lifts. I understand most of the issues have been resolved but I would check it’s operation throughly before leaving the base. The issues were big enough that they deleted the platform off the M5000 model specs and went back to the standard R&C davits which are superb.
