....whether I want to or not!
Ttomorrow we have to leave. I don’t really want to but it’s time and besides that, we’re turning into lumps just being here.
I have some packing to do but the other ‘going home chores’ of which there are a few more these days are done. Yesterday, Vicki here at BSV was kind enough to print out our US Covid reentry declarations so that’s done and bright and early this morning we went to MedWorks for our antigen tests and we’re waiting for the results to be emailed any minute so we can go back and pick them up. It was quick and easy and the hardest part was finding the lab, forgetting the ground floor isn’t always called the first floor. We stopped at Zee Best for breakfast crepes - no pastries for either of us - and now we wait for our results.
WOOPSE! I spoke to soon.....
When we got back to BSV the power was out - no Internet etc. so after two hours had passed, DH returned to MedWorks thinking our approvals had to be ready. Lights out, doors locked and no one around to ask as to what was going on. We learned they were closed for lunch so back he went. The ladies remembered us from the morning but low and behold - they searched their file and had no results for us. Nothing! Nada! Zilch! She called the actual lab and for some reason, they had just neglected to send them. In a matter of minutes they forwarded the approvals and the collection center admin put them in DH’s hands with apologies for the confusion. Will we ever have an easy time with these approvals? I’m starting to think NOT.
The rest of the afternoon we packed and did whatever and we returned to the Spaghetti House for our ‘last supper’ here on the island. Usually that last meal is a special deal for us but this trip, for one reason or another, I think every dinner was special thanks to the good friends and new friends we shared them with.
And tomorrow? Home! I’m ready but barely.
Respectfully,
pat

Wow Pat, can't believe it's time already for you to go home. Sitting home reading your reports seems like you just got there. I can only imagine what it feels like for you. Safe travels to you and John. Thank you for all the reports and keeping us in touch with our favorite place.

You've certainly had more than your share of issues with testing and approvals! I sincerely hope, not completely unselfishly, that these requirements will soon be gone for those of us who have been vaccinated.
Safe travels!!

It’s been interesting, for sure re the testing. Three sets of tests required for three different flights and three different sets of issues and none of them controllable by me but we got through it and the trip was worth the personal drama. Hopefully, the testing requirements will end soon, at least for all those properly vaccinated and that will certainly remove one level of stress for those who have experienced it.
But in the end it’s been all good. Well, mostly all, and I thank you for snoozing through it with us. I’m sure we’ll have more to say once home but for now, thank you all for your thoughts and comments. It’s been fun having you along and now, it’s time to finish packing up and get this show on the road! 😊😊
Respectfully,
pat

Pat--You sure seem to be star-crossed with regard to the question of testing! I hope for all our sakes that the testing soon becomes a thing of the past for the fully vaccinated.
Safe travels home!

Wow-sorry about this last minute stress!! Thank you for sharing your visit. It's only been 4 weeks since we left the island after our 3 week trip but it seems like forever. Your posts have reminded me of why we take vacations - to relax , to reconnect with friends, to enjoy great food ,and to soak up the sun!!

Thank you for all the "boring" reports. Sounds like you had a very restful vacation, which is the purpose of it all. So sorry for your testing issues but glad you had a nice time. Safe travels home!

Hi Pat!!!! It was so fun to meet you at el Zafiro that morning! Seems like forever ago. Your husband is so funny and witty. And you....well, I have not been on TTOL for a long time, but I am going to go back and read all of your reports. I usually laugh right out loud. You are a GREAT writer! That is the day we left and I had read in the paper that the electric was going to be out from 9 am to 4 p.m in the Beacon Hill area.
