This would be a real hastle/cost saver if both sides of the island (being EU members) would allow auS travellers with a vaccination to skip the whole3-5 day testing scheme. Plus, if the US ended the need for vaccinated persons to get a readmission test that would be awesome.

Always hated ow the island had to follow Paris/Amsterdam ut in tbis case it would be great.

I would feel a lot better if the CDC(or whoever is responsible for the "regulation") would drop the testing requirement to re enter the US for vaccinated persons. That is a much greater deterrent to traveling that the testing requirements of SXM.

I disagree. Test requirement to return to US is much easier than jumping all the hoops to get to SXM.

The earth is about ready to fall off it's axis, but I agree with Scubaman.. grin While I certainly would prefer for the US to accept proof of vaccination in place of a test to return home, the requirements to return to the US seem much easier than getting to SXM. Other than deciding WHERE to get the test done to return, and the cost of it, that part of it has seemed relatively trouble free, versus all the troubles in the US to get to SXM, getting a test done and results in, in time, and getting approval from EHAS.

I do agree that the requirements to return are much easier to execute, but the issue for me is the risk testing positive down there and not being able to return home. I'm not saying that I'm not concerned for others by getting on a plane with the virus, just the logistics of having to quarantine in SXM are a concern and that risk is a pretty big deterrent for a lot of people.

Which wouldn't be a concern for vaccinated travelers.

It has YET to happen. You have the MANDATORY insurance. Until there is a positive test and someone actually has to use the MANDATORY insurance, I will continue to question the validity of the testing on the island.

Give it some time. I think they'll come around. Especially if they lose potential tourists to other destinations.
