WOW!! wife and I just returned from a week stay at Caliente and would like to tell everyone this is a 5 star resort. It is absolutely beautiful. We rented a casita for the week and the price was $540. You can rent anything from a hotel room to a two bedroom condo. Check out all the prices on the web site. Day fees were $21 each and the the first day was free. For under $800 for the week we felt it was a great bargain. The grounds and the clubhouse are just beautiful. Nice piano bar in the evening and excellent restuarant. The pool area is fantastic. On the upper level they have a conversation pool and a nice size hot tub. The lower level has a huge pool with a water fall that they call the grotto. There also is another nice size shallow pool near the main bar that everyone seemed to congragate in during the hot afternoons. There are two water volley ball pools away from the main pools which was also kind of nice. There had to be 500 lounge chairs around the pools. Never a shortage.
You cannot take alchohol onto the grounds at all and everything has been built to prevent it. But not like at Paradise if you rent a Hotel room you can have alcohol in your room. So you can sit on the patio and have a cocktail! There is no entrance from the hotel rooms to the pool area and I think that is how they get away with it. The lanais are screened in so you have to walk around.
Around the pools on Saturday they had at least 8 girls running taking drink orders. Happy hour was 4 to 7. I counted at least 8 maseuses set up around the pool area and they were all pretty busy.
Honestly this place is really unbelievable and we would reccommend it to everyone. One night we walked out from the disco with our bottle of wine and sat on the veranda. We were overlooking the pool and listening to the waterfall and with the hundreds of palm trees around the pool and the lights we really thought we were in the Caribean, We heard many people say it was like being at a Grand Lido It is really something. They are also building a beach area but the water did not look like it would ever be good for swimming. Just more or less if anyone wanted to sit on the sand and look at the water.
Everyone on the staff was so friendly and we were constantly asked how we liked everything and if things were O.K. they definatly are aiming to please.
The disco is huge and has a big screen that comes down from the ceiling (20 by 20) and at least 6 video monitors around the bar which focus on the dance floor and shows everyone dancing. Really state of the art.
We have friends that own a villa with a two car garage and were very impressed with there place. It just seems like everything has been so well thought out. They even have a walking path that covers the grounds through every area that is about a two mile hike. It was so nice to go for a long walk every morning. We know we are pretty simple to please while on vacation but we could not find anything we did not like about Calient and plan to return in October. We both kind of said why go to the Caribbean unless it was November through March where you want to be somewhat assured of good weather. If anyone has a question we will be happy to answer but I must say check out there web site. It tells no lies.
