Wondering if anyone carries Mace and if I can pack it in a checked bag.
Our daughter is a student at SDSU and carries a small Sabre mace dispenser at all times, crime on campus and surrounding area is very common. Wife also carries the same compact unit, these are super effective and easy to use.

Are there any regulations prohibiting having a dispenser on hand?
This stuff is super effective and will stop any attacker in their tracks.

Not sure about Mace. However, an alternative to consider is wasp spray. Should be available many places - not sure about Grenadines - and, importantly, is designed to be sprayed a long distance. That means it can be deployed at long range instead of close up, like MACE. Don't know exactly what it does when sprayed in someone's face, but it would certainly be a deterent.

A bottle of Tabasco added to the small Aerosol kits that come with a pump to pressurize it.
The Wasp spray is great as long as banditos don't steal it from you and spray you. It will definitely cause permanent damage to your eyes and lungs.

consider an air-horn as a possible alternative... potentially more debilitating than mace or wasp spray... (think about someone blasting 3 bursts directly in your face) certainly creates an element of surprise and lets everyone in the vicinity that something is up... an air-horn can accomplish multiple things at the same time... surprise-scare-debilitate-and alert those in the area... and you can pick it up at the boat shop... Safe travels!

also - trouble makers like to create trouble in silence... a few blasts of the air-horn wipes that out in a quick hurry...

I got a spray can at the local bicycle store of a product to repel dogs made from the active ingredient in Ben-Gay. It is very compact and not very expensive!
Basically it is an eye irritant when used in this capacity.

Our trip has been cancelled, the cat we had reserved was removed from the fleet by it's owners.
I just got some Citronella spray to carry when I walk our dogs, it is supposed to stop an attacking dog in it's tracks, would do the same for humans, I do also carry a compact airhorn on our walks, same purpose, would use it first before spraying a dog.

Oh shoot... May want to consider contacting Horizon in Grenada... That group is solid and may be able to find you a quick replacement... Good luck!

Oh darn Dog! That's too bad! Did you already buy air tickets? What will the base operator due for you? I was looking forward to reading about your trip. We did a one way Grenadines to Grenada in 2008, and it's on my list of places to return someday.

Basically a blessing in disguise, it was beyond a stretch to afford this trip after a sudden job change after booking.

I am getting a full refund and will be back.

Still going to make the BVI week for Foxy's Cat Fight in October.
