Has anyone stayed at either the Hotel Palm Court or Hotel Orientbeach? Where is the parking for both? Secured? Thoughts, comparison? Thank you.

Yes, my wife and I stayed at Palm Court in Orient Village for the first time last March (pre-COVID). It's a lovely little hotel in a great location and the gated parking lot is right in front. It has a pool with a small covered outdoor dining area that serves a complimentary breakfast, but there's an up charge for larger items such as omelettes, etc. When we were there work with the water system on the French side was going on, so at times during the day the water was shut down but the hotel supplemented this nicely with as much bottled water as necessary. I believe these water issues are now in the past.

The location of Palm Court is one of its best points. Just step out the front gate and the "Avenue des Plages" ('Avenue of the Beaches') is right there. It's a short walk to Orient Beach (about a hundred yards), and your reservation at Palm Court includes beach chairs and an umbrella at Bikini Beach (but not in the front row of chairs). Along the way there are at least ten places to dine, including a few of my favorites (Le Piment & Yellow Sub). Other places include Sao (asian cuisine), Le Pet't Bistro, La Voile Blanche, Le Telegraphe, and even a pizza place called 'Bo Pizza'. The square that encompasses most of these restaurants comes to life after dark, and various local merchants set up tables in the area offering hand made jewelry and other trinkets for sale. But, it's not a high pressure environment nor do things get too loud or crazy around here that we could see. If you need groceries or supplies the Petit Casino is also right on the strip, and they really stuff a lot of things into this little store. Sure beats having to drive to the Leader Price or Super U in Hope Estates!

We were originally going to stay here back in November, 2017 but Hurricane Irma had other plans. Palm Court suffered major damage from that storm, but it's back now and better than ever. Pricing is reasonable, and you won't be disappointed if you choose this place.

Sammy has summed up Palm Court very nicely.
We have stayed there twice and will probably be our choice this year for our first week.
Last time there was a week before Irma hit and I can remember being in the pool talking about a possible storm crossing the Atlantic.
The redo of the complex looks wonderful,
We have stayed there during the third week of August and almost always have the afternoon pool to ourselves.
The included continental is sufficient.
Short stroll to beach and the village for nice meals.
Grand Case is about 10 minutes away, while L'Astrolab and Sole e Luna are also extremely close.
The ferry to pinel isle is within 10 minutes.
Gated parking is very secure.
Best price I found for Palm Court which included taxes and fees was through West Indes Travel under trip advisor.

My wife had picked out the beautiful Orient Beach Hotel which offers ocean view if that is important.
I'll use the saved rental dollars / euros and put it to the meal fund.
Can never have enough to spend on food and wine.

I'm sure either choice will be wonderful.

Thank you, everyone. There is a big difference in price between the two. As I want this to be special for my husband, I'll leave it up to him. I'd go for Palm Court, It looks like Orientbeach hotel is somewhat further from the restaurants and I don't know about secured parking. That is important to me.

Palm Court is ideal for everything, Village square is just across the street for the Restaurants, the Strip next door has Cafes, BO Pizza, Bars, grocery stores, hair salon and Delis, plus more.

Where is the Orient Beach Hotel? We use to stay at Alamanda Resort for about 7 years and haven't been back to SXM since the "Hurricane" If anybody has any info on Orient Beach Hotel I'd like to hear them.

Thank You, Ron Meszaros

Orient Beach Hotel is the old Blue Bay Beach Hotel the was badly damaged by Irma. We stayed at BBBH in 2017 and loved the location right on the beach and is a very short walk to Yellow Sub. New owners have completely renovated the hotel including the pool that now is located right on the edge of the beach. We will be staying there in early May. https://orientbeachhotel.com/

We stayed at the former Blue Bay Beach Hotel for many years, going back as far as when it was called the Hotel Cap Caraibes. I did not know that it had been rebuilt and re opened.
Stayed at Palm Court about 20 years ago - has apparently been completely renovated since that time. The Palm Court has a walled parking lot - looks very secure.

Haven't stayed in either, but was at Orient Beach in February, and this is what OrientHotel looked like from the beach. The units looked quite nice, and I am not sure, but think many would have a view of the beach, which can be hard to find in Orient Village

I stayed at Palm Court for my first trip to Orient Bay back in 2004, but I don't think my experience back then would be too relevant now. I seem to remember that the rooms did have a kitchenette with a cook top, which was convenient. After two trips where I stayed at hotels in the village I switched over to renting apartments instead, including one for a two week stay. If you plan to be there for a week or more this can be a more comfortable option as long as you don't mind washing your own clothes. Many of the apartments are of the same type of structures as the hotels so the layouts inside are similar. Anything from a studio up through a multi-bedroom unit are available.

We stayed at Palm Court more than 10 years ago and had no complaints. At that time a continental breakfast was included and set up by the pool.
