Here we are at the beginning of week 4! Where has the time gone??
We continue to have breakfast and lunch on our balcony. Had Quiche Lorraine yesterday with a Raisin Roll. Happy Hour on the balcony too. Last night we did our regular Sunday evening meal of Salad and Pizza from Isola. Never disappoints.
We had Jeannie over to Dinner one night. She is a absolute delight and a good friend. Dinner was Asian Spiced Salmon with Cranberry Chili Sauce and Curried Peanut Sauce, Fragrant Orange Rice and Fresh Broccoli. For Dessert we had tarts for La Sucriere, but I forgot to take pictures of them. We had a delightful evening!
We also made it to Bar Code. On the way we stopped and took a few pictures of Ocean Club. So very sad that nothing is happening there and the structures are disintegrating. On the other hand the new development next to the old Stars Casino is well underway. The first tower has been topped out at 21 stories and the foundation and basement for the 2nd tower is well underway. I don’t think it fits on the island at all and where in the world are they going to park all the cars??
Anyway, we had a really good meal at Bar Code. Ivan is a gracious host. We started with Crispy Calamari. John had Fish and Chips. The fries were absolutely awesome! I had Veal Milanaise. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
The weather has been a bit odd. For a couple days it was VERY windy and then Friday or Saturday (the days seem to run into each other down here – LOL), it was overcast and rained most of the time until about noon.
The island remains very quiet. Hardly anyone by our pool during the week. Walk from our unit to the causeway every morning and the traffic is really light. Never have a problem of waiting to cross the street.
Thanks for the report. That is one amazing sunset pic!! Looks like a very nice meal you had with Jeannie. I agree that new building, and I guess what will be it's mate, are a monstrosity and I think totally out of place on the island. Of course I said the same thing about Rainbow and the Cliff too. Without knowing, my guess is that there will be a parking garage for that monstrosity. I wondered whether you were feeling there were more people on island than when you arrived. I guess the answer is no.
Some of us really old old-timers might consider that huge new tall building to be a huge part of the total ruination of Sint Maarten. I would be one of them!
But beyond that, TY so much for sharing your trip. Photo of you with Jeanie is lovely. Enjoy the balance if your stay and TY again for sharing.
Respectfully,
pat

On the way back from Bar Code last night there were lights on in a majority in the unites in the upper B building here. We were very surprised as the resort still seems pretty empty during the day.
I love to cook so I did a special meal for our celebration with Jeannie.
