As we begin week 2 we are finally beginning to relax. In this time of Covid it takes a bit longer.

Last night we got carryout from Isola. We love their cuisine. We shared an order of Burrata with roasted tomatoes, pesto and shaved Parmesan. Delicious. John had Fettuccine with Bolognese which he pronounced wonderful. I had a salad followed by mushroom and ham pizza which hit the spot perfectly.

Several observations. The island is very quiet. Simpson Bay Resort is way below capacity. We normally spend the day around the B pool and it's often only the 2 of us. Sometimes it gets up to maybe 8. This Saturday there was a big birthday party for some local youth. It was so nice to see a lot of kids having fun. I think most of the families stayed for a night or two which certainly helps the resort.

Traffic appears to be very light. Carrefour was fully stocked (unlike our Kroger at home) and everyone was masked. The first couple of days it was really windy but recently it's back to the normal breezes. Had lots of rain over night and this morning but the lake at the foot of Billy Foley Rd. by the Atrium is not there!!

There weren't very many private jets at the airport and there are only a handful of big yachts in the lagoon. I think the island must be really hurting. We are so glad we took the chance and jumped through all the hoops to get here. We were here a year ago and had to leave 10 days early when they closed the island. We haven't left the house except for groceries and medical appointments for a year. Neither have we had anyone over so we were really going stir crazy. Consequently, it feels SO good to be here.

We'll probably have another quiet week with breakfast and lunches on the balcony. We may hit Bar Code or Avantika this week. We'll also have a Zoom happy hour with friends occasionally.

Great to hear lake Atrium is no longer. At least for now. Love Isola food too.
