Good news for people that enjoyed Club Orient. Really doesn't make any difference to me as I always stayed of the "textile" side.

Nothing new at all!!! Just more hopes and dreams, unfortunately. Then why make the announcement as they have today. This is the first word we have had from Club O. I doubt they would propagate false hope.

You were obviously privileged to certain information the rest of us weren't. Why didn't you let everyone know that a Building Permit had now been submitted.

You were obviously privileged to certain information the rest of us weren't. Why didn't you let everyone know that a Building Permit had now been submitted. I assume that was directed at me. All I did was pass on the information that there were positive developments and to go to the official club orient website for further information. How is it my responsibility to give more details than that. I have no inside info other than I am a member of their Facebook page which is how I found out about this. Wow. I'm done.

i think his sarcastic comment was directed at "Maria_and_Steve", who claims there is "nothing new at all", when apparently the submittal of the Building Permit is NEW news

Club O slogan is “nothing is better”. This one small step is a giant leap for Club O Nation.
The fact that something organized/official is on the internet after 3+ Years is big. Most of it is old chronology with some new tidbits.
The submittal of the building permit Feb 2021 with a published goal to begin the rebuild Fall 2021 and that the design will “the same Club O” is big.
So, thanks to whoever is doing this and more power to you and hopefully maybe something will open in 2022.
I suspect you could get alot of volunteers for some free tent lodging, free chairs, free perch burgers and free Carib.

Yesterday we were stopped from entering from Le Gallion end. Road work. Lots of equipment and mounds of dirt.

I, for one, am thankful that this info was posted. Unfortunately in the current state of hate and anger in the US, I don't blame the folks that had any "inside" info from not posting it. To post something positive and then have to see people complain that it wasn't this or why not that, is just not right. We were about to give up on ever going back to the island but we now have hope that if Club O gets rebuilt before we need to use walkers, we will be back. So, to whomever was able to get this info and post it, we say THANK YOU.

I agree D Dog. Any info on the return of Club O is great news. At least the wheels of progress are turning, albeit slowly. The Wife and I would probably not return to SXM, unless Club O gets up and running again. Plenty of other places to stay on the Island, but none can compare to Cub O. My opinion only.

This truly gives me hope that maybe we can return in 2023. I agree with you o2bnsxm...we always said if club o closed we would not go back. For 15 years...staying in Fort Apache...sitting on the patio for lunch....walking back to the beach and watching all of the iguanas sleeping in the trees...feeding the dogs and cats and sugar birds....those are the memories that mean the most to us and you cannot duplicate that anywhere else. It spoke to our hearts like no place else.

RonDon--that has nothing to do with Club O. It is some work they are doing to the water pipes in the area. I posted a link to the Daily Herald story regarding that here, a week or so ago.

We are so excited! I just read all the information and it sounds like a concerted and organized effort, so thank you to all the owners that are making it happen. I have already sent a note to all our friends from the island letting them know to check the website for all the good news.
We are planning to come in May and then have a place rented for two months next february, so hopefully there may be some action by then! thanks for sharing the update.

The Daily Herald article that you posted didn't mention Club O but I find it interesting that the new/expanded water and waste-water lines are shown along the road to the old Pedros site, immediately north of Club O property and the newly launched Club O website mentions that the water desalination and waste-water treatment operations would not be rebuilt.

A light at the end of the tunnel... It would be great to see Club Orient rebuilt. Hopefully Captain Oliver’s resort and the marina will be next.
