Question for you all. We are staying on the arm near Magens Bay. We are staying for 10 days and we are debating whether we need to spend $1,000 for a rental car? Are there taxi's that would pick us up down in that area? How much is it for a taxi? Has anyone paid less than $1,000 for a full size car or suv for 10 days?

Rent the car. That's a good price and you won't regret it. Much better than being at the mercy of taxis....cheaper too. If you've never driven in the VI just keep left, take it slow, give other drivers plenty of room, explore, have fun and KEEP LEFT.

There is so much to see and do, I agree rent a car. every hill you climb will have a million dollar view of the water and well worth the rental fee!! But yes keep left and beware of steep hills when it has just rained.

Definitely rent a car.
Try Cousin’s Car rental. It may be a bit cheaper than the others.
I also recommend to stay away from the national chains like Budget or Avis. They have been overbooking and people are stuck without cars.
Enjoy your visit!
