Thank you for the pinned post! Very helpful! Some remaining "on the ground (water)" questions - I'm scouring this & FB posts & sometimes it gets conflicting & confusing (though I'm sure experiences have been different):
Exit testing - I see VG, Tortola, & JVD on the list - thought I heard Anegada as well? Is the exit test info (email address & phone numbers) only for exit testing in Tortola? I keep reading about people making their own appointments the day before by visiting the clinics at some of the other locations. Just trying to be sure for the itinerary's sake...
Restaurants - reports are sometimes conflicting about what is open & closed - understandable given what was open in early Jan may have closed. Are there any that at least by this point are certainly open (not looking for guarantees ;-) )? Any that are new finds worth visiting once we are allowed to mingle?
Quarantine anchorages - preferences? Any found to be great snorkeling while under quarantine? There seems to be conflicting reports about whether you can visit the beach or not - any experience with that? Sounds like some charters are saying "yes" & some "no" - the update map says "landfall prohibited" at certain anchorages which implies that it is NOT prohibited in others?
I hear tales of contactless food delivery to Q vessels - has this been found to be true?
Anything you'd consider a "must" after quarantine is over given the light crowds?
That's a lot of questions. We were there in December and our experience was a little different than some of the recent trip reports. They seems to adjust and change requirements pretty regularly. Check out some of the recent threads. They will have the best info for you. Travel with a bit of an open mind and you'll have a great time.
Husker - yes, it is - lol - one of us is a planner & one of us is good with playing it by ear... And as much as we want to visit old favorites, we were hoping to try some new things this trip...
I've posted the full testing document I received from Health Services Authority on the BVI Currents thread on Facebook. It is Word or PDF format both apparently forbidden here (or I can't figure out how). I'm attaching the page containing the testing locations and their information.
All the tests are processed at the hospital in RoadTown. On the Sister Islands (Anegada, Jost Van Dyke, Virgin Gorda) the clinic takes your sample and that is transported to Tortola for processing in the lab at the hospital.
Attached is the complete document in JPG files suitable for this site.
I noticed this document suggests using the e-mail address covidrrt@outlook.com. In recent days they have been publishing that the correct e-mail address is covidrrt@bvihsa.vg. I don't know if one has actually replaced the other or is merely an alias. Anyone who knows more about this should provide an update.
This is apparently the document they send when you send an e-mail about a testing appointment. They may update it, so I would urge everyone to send their own e-mail so they can receive the latest document from BVI HSA.
On the restaurants topic: Norman - Pirates bight open and delivering to Benures Bay Peter - Great Harbour - Oceans7 is open - looks good VG - only went to North Sound. Leverick restaurants are open. Saba Rock - not really close to opening. Oil Nut receiving boats only on weekends JVD - Foxy's only place for dinner that I saw. Soggy and Hendos closes at like 3 (kitchen). Corsairs was closed. Did Ali Baba for a breakfast. Was great to support them - awesome folks! Tortola - Cane Garden - seems to be a lot of options. We got a taxi and went down to Sugar Mill - Tramonti for dinner. Lunch was at Pusser's in CGB Anegada - Had dinner at the Reef Hotel - (place order early) - Cow Wreck was open. Lobster trap looked to be open - didn't visit
In all spots - For Dinner - PLAN AHEAD - call to make reservations and to check to see if they are open
For Anegada dining - Potter's is open for dinner if you stop or call and make a reservation. Anegada Reef Hotel is open. Wonky Dog is open, Sid's at Pomato Point is open, Anegada Beach Club is open all day, and Big Bamboo is open at Loblolly at least for lunch.
The weekend I was there, Cow Wreck and Neptune's were closed and Lobster Trap was only open for L&M Rentals to operate.
All very helpful!! Thank you so much - getting excited to visit - we extended so that we will have a little more time after Q - looking forward to trying some new places as well as some favorites ;-)
