The most beautiful thing about St Martin, I have know idea what date, day, how many days we’ve been here whatever.

Last night we went to Palapa Grill, maybe we are just one day behind Norm. Haha
If you’re looking for steak, forget Jax, been there. At Palapa forget the steak knife, not needed. So tender! Great service and did I mention the steaks? We stopped there after the Palms the other night and she mentioned that ownership had changed since last time we were there. We enjoyed it two years ago so were leery about trying it again. So glad we did. We have our favorite steakhouses in Columbus, these guys were right there. Finished the night with Creme Bulee. Outstanding!

Today we spent the day at our villa as tomorrow is moving day to Simpson Bay Villas. Enjoyed hanging out at our pool watching the sailboat school off of Friars Bay. We are big sports fans and discussed what sports they had down here. By the way they sail by in the small sailboats by our villa I would assume that that is pretty popular down here. Is that a sport?
We move each trip as it’s nice for at least the last half to not worry about drinking and then having to drive. This time another reason as we can get tested to get back to the states right where we are staying. Will let everyone know how that goes as it’s a fairly new policy.

Tonight we are heading to Sale Pepe again. Dana wanted to get that lobster one more time. We’ve always dined at one location twice every year and that was Al Dente, maybe it’s Sale Pepe from now on. Hoping to end night at Hole in the Wall (following Norm again).

Looks good, thanks for the update.

What are your favorite Columbus steakhouses?

Any list that doesn't include the words "Jeff Ruby" is a wrong answer.... In my humble opinion ....

Everybody should enjoy that experience at least once. If you have the means ...

Thanks for the report and the pics. We have never been to Palapa Grill. Hope to do that next time.

We split "The Calvary" (Ribeye, Filet, & Hanger Steak) at Palapa last week - it was fabulous!! Considering returning there for our final night, it was that good!

The meals look amazing. I am a germ freak, that is why I am in MA not St Maarten, and was wondering how those cutting boards are sanitized. I bleach mine. If that board was brought to me I don’t think I could eat.

Yes. Those cracks in the boards are a germ magnet.

After drooling over your steak I cooked two fillet mignons for us today. Delicious, if I say so myself, but not as good as being in SXM eating them. It's snowing here.
Enjoy the rest of your stay.

Sorry to say we had just the opposite experience at Palapa last night. I had a four paragraph synopsis all typed and ready to hit send when my SO stepped in..,needless to say cooler heads prevailed.
The entire trip .....every single meal..drink or whatever I've been leaving a 20% + tip over and above service charges. Not this time. For the first time in my life I was charged on a separate line item for the mixer in my $9 drink. It was all downhill from there.
Mother said to not say anything if you can't say something nice..... so I'll end it here. Worst experience since I fed the eñtire two rib eyes to the black and tan dogs at the Greenhouse.

Sorry to hear about that. Pretty disappointing. We ate there in Nov. 2019 and it was decent but I thought Jax served a better steak in a much better atmosphere with better service. I thought the pours of wine were very small when I did eat there.

Rest of the trip has been fantastic!!!! Even got extended by 3 days due to storm back home. $10 wine "shot" was mentioned in deleted post. And mixer charge was for pineapple juice that was undetectable in the drink , after sending it back once. Going to JAX tonight for our final meal of this trip.

SXMBND--That's disappointing, that they are still doing the wine 'shots' there. Guess if we go, we will order a bottle... smile

Would love to hear a more in detail trip report when you have time.

SXMBND--it's pretty easy. Just begin a post and click on USE FULL EDITOR. That brings up another box. Scroll down to ATTACHMENT MANAGER and click on that. Then upload your pictures.

Sorry to hear your experience at Palapa, feel bad about recommending it now. We considered going back a second time as we had such a good experience. Let us know how your steaks were at Jax.

Yes, the "glass" of wine was more like a shot. We were very impressed with Jax in March 2020. I hope you have a good experience.

It is still there.....don't think I'd be too happy if I owned the property in front of it.

JAX's last night was by far the most incredible meal of the entire trip. Service....presentation......incredible mixture of flavors.... these guys "get it"
We both had a surf and turf combo with pan seared scallops as the surf portion. Almost looked to good to eat...,.. I did say almost....
