I'm looking for restaurant recommendations in the Philipsburg and Oyster Pond areas. What I like:
- Less "expensive steak" and more cheeseburgers and wings. So a place like Chesterfields is not really on my radar.
- I'm travelling solo this time, so I prefer to eat sitting at the bar, as opposed to alone at a table.
- A good happy hour doesn't hurt.
- Good food at a good price - "value" is important to me.

While I have a "short list," I'd like to hear from others on this board what they like, so I can compare notes.

OK, casual restaurants in Philipsburg and/or Oyster Pond, with good food and fair prices. Go.

Mark's Place does have a small bar A wide variety of food, reasonable on the price and near Philipsburg.

I don't really consider Chesterfield's as expensive, but whatever..

You're going to have a problem trying to limit yourself to P'burg because there is not a heck of a lot that is open at night there now, even less than there used to be. Greenhouse would be a very good bet though. 2 for 1 on drinks and appetizer specials, and they have a huge bar. I don't really know Oyster Pond at all well, so don't have a suggestion there. Mark's Place is not technically in P'burg, but close and sure seems to fit the bill.

And another issue with Philipsburg proper, not much open after dark since there is almost no tourist business. Beyond Greenhouse, not sure what might be open in the evenings.

Kahlua is on the boardwalk and open days and evenings in P'Burg. Lal from the Sublime restaurant opened his own place there. Has a bar and good food.

Carol - Yeah, Chesterfields seems reasonable, and not high-end. NY Strip for under $25 seems reasonable, so I agree. Just looking for something more casual (sandwiches, wraps, etc). And Greenhouse is already on my list. Been there before, and it's right in my wheelhouse. Same with Mark's Place.

Thanks to all for the ideas. Keep 'em coming!

Bill--ok. Enjoy your trip! I do understand what you mean about not wanting to sit at a table by yourself. Your best bets would probably be Simpson Bay for what you want, but I realize that's a bit of a hike from P'burg.

Good suggestion. Any idea on their hours?

I messaged them for the hours. According to Google, they are closed Monday and open until 11:00pm but not sure if I would be comfortable with them being open that late if they are not busy. I will report if I get a response. Always good food and value at Sublime.

Mama Pizza just reopened in Oyster Pond. I haven't seen their new menu yet, but I can remember having very good and reasonably priced entrees when they were previously (pre-Irma) open. Nice view, very good pizza also.

We enjoyed BZH Creperie a couple of years ago. They do have a bar, so guessing you could have a nice meal there. They have good pizzas as well as their signature crepes.

I read on FB that BZH is closed for about a month for major indoor remodeling.

Yes, BZH is closed right now, not sure for how long.

The restaurant and bar at Oyster Bay Beach Resort are open to the public. They have a 2 for 1 happy hour every day from 4 to 6 and you can sit there at the bar and eat. They have a fairly reasonable snack menu.

Honhonhon Bar and resto on the boardwalk between Passaghran (sp?) and Oualichi restaurant. We go probably once a week to watch a soccer match, have lunch and a laugh with the proprietor Patrick. Good food, low prices and a beautiful view. It's one of our "safe" places as Philipsburg is pretty quiet so easy to be distant, unless there's a final on the TV! Open air and music some nights with tables on the boardwalk. The sign is on the roof, hard to see.

Many may remember French Patrick from Bon Apetite, Pats Roadhouse, Hole In The Wall.
