We were informed today that the north parking lot for Haulover Beach will close January 22nd for the construction of the boat storage building. Everyone will have to use the third entrance south after that date to park in the third lot, which is across from the lifeguard headquarters.

Hard to tell. It took them forever to build those concrete bathrooms.

We plan to visit Haulover in mid February for the first time. Can anyone recommend a clean reasonably priced hotel somewhere nearby? Thanks.

Info here on lodging etc Haulover area lodging I think these places are basically clean but not ritzy. Main complaint that I've heard is the extra cost for parking at the Newport but it's very convenient to the beach, i.e. walkable.

We've stayed at Newport on multiple occasions and it is nice. It is walkable albeit a healthy walk.

We were there two weeks ago. First visit. 99% real winner. Lots of folks but the beach is huge to. 1% a few creepers.
If you want/insist on walking: Newport or Trump --- Newport has mixed reviews. If you're gonna be in a car -- you can probably get a nicer/cheaper hotel deal a bit away. If the north lot is open --it is really convenient. We noticed the "haulover pros" have balloon wheeled carts for their chairs/umbrellas and many of their chairs have coolers in the backs.
We're contemplating our next trip and where to stay. We stayed inland for free and traffic was a bear and was about an hour each way. So next time we want to have to travel about 15-20 min MAX.
While there is a snack truck with sodas, burgers, hot dogs....having a cooler in the car with lunch and all might be easier than lugging your gear and eating the same hamburger, hot dog.

There is also the Monaco, up across from Walgreens on Collins Ave. The rates aren't too bad, but there is a new high rise going up next to it. If you're sleeping in late, it might be noisy.

So, Tuesday the north parking lot closed. I walked over yesterday to check out the beach. Starting at the north end of the beach, people are still using the beach. The next area down, the old "regulars" area, there is much more room in between people. Many local walkers are continuing to set up in this area, and others just walk the longer distance from the south parking lot. The guys were playing volleyball. Russian Steve is in his same spot.
Farther down, south of Lifeguard station 13, is where the rest of the regulars have set up.
As I walked onto the beach, Tabitha just happened to be driving up the beach in the new golf cart. She asked if I wanted a ride to the new location, and I got the first ignaugural ride down to the relocated area.
The food truck has also moved down to accommodate the relocated beach goers.
Also, the handicap parking spots on the east side of Collins Ave at the Lifeguard station fill up quickly now.

Thanks for the update. My last observation before thelot closed was everything had gravitated North and maybe this might spread people out as there is plenty of room and maybe the vendor trailer might stay a bit further south making it more equidistant for all.
Wish I could beam myself down there from the frigid north.

We are from Calgary, Alberta Canada and are thinking of traveling to Florida in April for about 3 weeks and wanted to visit Haulover beach. Just wondering if there are any nude resorts nearby like Lake Como that we could stay there instead at a textile hotel. If we need to drive from a hotel we might as well stay at a nude resort and drive if there's one nearby. It appears that to park at the beach could be a big deal as there is limited parking and the walk could be a very long one if we need to take chairs, food, drinks and ice etc. or is my sense of distance on the map incorrect?

Place in Loxahatchee, never been there. Google maps says 51 minutes each way. I bet that time is on a good day with no traffic.
The traffic immediately north or south of Haulover adds 15 minutes to anything before you hit a road that actually moves.
As for the walk. The closed lot is like SUPER CONVENIENT. I would say the next lot with the lifeguard building (just south of nude area) is not bad unless you hoof it back to the North lot area. My guess by now is more nude people have moved south with the lot closure to adjust. Might be a good thing as folks have been highly concentrated up north and it thins out. The sand is firm and easy walking but don't know how much ice and liquid you'll carry.
a lot of the regulars have hybrid balloon wheel carts even at the north lot.
Go to goodwill and get a cheap wagon or stroller and re donate it.

It has been almost 2 years now since hth north lot closed. Any word on if/when it will re-open. We are coming down to FL in spring. I have neard the delays are due to fiscal problems with the city of Miami? Hoping it will re-open soon. The hike from the south lot is a PITA!

It re-opened two weeks ago. You have to enter through the marina gate. The north entrance is only for construction trucks for the boat storage building which is under construction.
