Health risks? Maybe that is still being debated, but from all the scientific evidence I have ever read there is little additional risk of cancer or radiation exposure from cell towers. Reminds me of when the very first microwave ovens were introduced. They were built like tanks for fear of leaking radiation with warnings not to stand in front of them while in operation. Other than being potential eye sores on the land, cell towers are essentially harmless but necessary if the island is going to move forward with communications infrastructure improvements for the future.

We have not been back to Negril since our 2005 honeymoon but I do recall, and have a picture somewhere, of a cell tower disguised as a palm tree near Negril Gardens. I only noticed it after about 3 days.

In this era of bountiful conspiracy theories I find that loosening the rubber band on my tin foil hat helps to lessen the load on my brain's RAM as it processes all of these nutbar theories. I suggest that the protestors dispense with their tin foil hats completely and fess up that it is all about NIMBY.

Absolutely cool! Now that's what I call blending something in. I'd like to see a few of these up north, CDN where a few artificial palm tree cell towers would help keep spirits 'elevated' during the winter months!

My preference would be for fir or pine trees with some snow and ski hills that are open. The way things are going though we may well be on the way to northern palm trees.

This hovering around the freezing point just creates an ugly, brown, sloppy, dirty dog's feet situation.

My two least favourite seasons are fall (after the leaves are down and before the snow) and spring (from March to early May where we just have dead grass and no leaves on the trees. And mud.)

There should be two seasons only: sailing/ beach/ golf / drinking and skiing / extra drinking

The palm tree cell tower is located in the section of Negril Gardens across the road from the main part of N.G.
This was taken May 2005; could still be there, maybe not.

Around here, outside the city, some cell towers are disguised as Pine trees. I used to see one on a former morning commute. They tend to blend in until you realize what they are, but after that they look pretty scraggly. That Negril Palm looks pretty good.
