We have been happy dealing with Caribbean Gems. I would suggest knowing what a chain would cost where you live, do your homework and have some idea of what you want to spend and negotiate.

As the previous poster suggested, have an idea of what you want and what it would cost at home and then check out a few of the St. Maarten shops. We also deal with Caribbean Gems on Front Street and have every year since they opened their doors in 1983. Never been disappointed yet and I think we may have paid for one of their kids education - but like most people, the issue is knowing what you want and establishing a rapport with a jeweler there. Might want to try the jewlery repair shop across from Juggies. He also sells gold along with buying gold. I have dealt with him before and is very fair.
