Yes, it's a beginning for sure. I might personally prefer a '70's cruise, but the '80's weren't too bad. Hope you got a good deal and a balcony cabin!

These are the promoters of the annual jazz cruise I go on each year. I am booked for January 2022 for the jazz cruise.

Linda,

Always knew you enjoyed jazz. Michael runs a great cruise. It becomes a family you only see once a year.
Just guessing you are more into the traditional jazz.
I did watch the holiday jazz show with Shelly Berg, okay for me but still enjoy the smooth jazz better.

We have been on over 10 of the smooth jazz cruises and must say they have perfected the experience.
There is great music in a more intimate setting and you have the opportunity to meet the musicians.
They sail on upper end ships and they have full control of the ships itinerary.
I remember our first cruise was about $1200 a person, quite a bit more expensive now but you are paying for some great concerts.
Last year just before the pandemic hit we took the disco cruise. What a hoot, never had so much fun.
It is affiliated with time life some how.
Good to say it was also very well run.
A unbelievable mix of people with no one looking at anyone because they were "different".
Young, but mostly older, black, white, straight, gay and some that were sure, all partied together.
The Studio 54 disco rocked until the early morning.
Very different than a jazz cruise but if you grew up dancing in the 70's and enjoyed the disco music, highly recommended.

Oh Hell Yeah, I'm in! Time to dust off the old break-dancing duds!!!

note to self: bring extra Tylenol, heating pads, and ice packs.

Maho - I have never been on the Smooth cruise (nor will I ever go yikes) as you are correct, I prefer straight-ahead. A couple of years ago, I did go on the Blue Note cruise the week after the Jazz cruise, just to see what it was like. There was some straight-ahead jazz, but it developed into contemporary "music" which just didn't connect with me. I ended out spending quite a bit of time by the pool during some of the concerts, which I NEVER do on the Jazz cruise! I did go on the Jazz cruise in 2019, with the pandemic hitting a couple of months after. That's the last vacation I have had since the virus. I've been going on the Jazz cruise for decades, back even before Anita (Michael's mother) took it all over, when it was shared by four travel agencies on the Norwegian line. I really like the feel of "family" on the cruise - you instantly have something in common with everyone on the ship!
