Thoughts from Monday......
Monday night dinner at Spaghetti House in Jordan Village at Cupecoy.Beef carpaccio and linguine with clams - delish - both and very inexpensive. You need not spend a fortune to eat well on SXM. I mean, you can and we usually manage to, but it’s not the only option.
The mega-story building on the golf course at Mullet sticks out like a total sore thumb. Im sure, once finished, the condos will be beautiful and the views amazing but IMO. it’s really not what i need to see when making the first approach to the island........And again, I will say the same thing I’ve been saying for at least thirty of our almost fifty island years - before they build anymore of this type of construction - because you know they will - they NEED TO WORK ON THE OVERALL INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE ISLAND.
Amazed by all the building going on all over the Dutch side of the island and I still don’t understand how building permits were granted for some of these places.
Monday morning we were at the pool for a few hours and the surf just beyond the pool deck was very calm. We watched it change and become more volatile all afternoon. I’m wondering if that beautiful full moon has anything to do with the changes.
Respectfully,
pat

Thanks for another update. Building permits and $$$ under the table perhaps?

Thanks for the update. I personally don't think ANY highrises belong on SXM. I remember being absolutely horrified when I saw the Cliff and Rainbow going up. Not sure how much taller these monstrosities are, but the couple pictures I have seen online, they sure look like an eyesore. "Progress"... Sort of..

HI Pat....
Glad you were able to get to SXM. Is this high rise on Mullet Bay golf course a reality. ie. under construction? I know the concept has been talked about since Luis destroyed Mullet Bay.
Enjoy BSV...

Jim,
Yes, it’s about twenty plus floors right now and on the golf course near the 14th hole if you’ve golfed there and know the layout. It’s on the same side and just before the road to the medical university.
I hate to be so negative about the high rises since the Towers is one, too, but it was tucked back out of the way and didn’t interfere with the views of the cliffs, one of the most picturesque locations on the island. I feel the same way about all the high rises in that area but strangely enough, I think Porto Cupecoy blends in well although it’s not what I’d call a high rise like the Towers or The Cliffs and certainly not like the new one going up.
And I don’t mean to sound so negative towards these properties - I’m sure they’re all beautiful and lucky are those who can afford to own them but personally speaking, I wish they didn’t allow buildings of this nature in these more picturesque locations. Purely my personal opinions.
Respectfully,
pat

Thanks Pat...
So, it's on the ocean side (near where queen's building used to be?) of the road or the interior side of the road? I knew eventually Ansari would build on the Mullet property.

Interior, and not ocean side. To the best of my knowledge, Ansari has little or nothing to do with this place although someone told me he bought a unit, which truthfully, I doubted. You know what island gossip is like. Truthfully, I’d be surprised if he or his family would willingly show their faces here right now but you never know.
And Building 90 was not the ‘queen’s building’ though she did often stay there when she was on island. The Towers had to close its top floors one year because she was on island and staying in Building 90 and it was felt the Towers might be in good range from the upper floors. Or again, so we were told.
