Just wondering if this destination would be recommended by people reading this post. There are several condo/apartments for rent by the week near the facilities. Paradise Lake Resort appears to be closed on Monday/Tuesday during Covid so rooms are blocked off for those days.
Thank you in advance.
carib cheers,

Doc,

We were there for the day about 10 years ago. Very nice grounds/facilities. Not cheap e.g. you can't bring your own drinks to the pool like you can at Cypress Cove. They supposedly cater to a "faster crowd" compared to AANR clubs but that's probably limited to weekends.

Have you considered the Cove (south of Orlando)? We're biased of course since we spend the winters there. Feel free to PM me for more info.

Chuck,
We have been to the Cove and actually met two couples there who were friends from Club O.
Just thought we would try a new place.
We were scheduled for St. Martin but needed to cancel.
Thanks for the reply.
carib cheers,
doctorj

Agree with Chuck's comments regarding Paradise Lakes. And when we were there, the resort itself wasn't in such great shape. IF the lifestylers don't bother you, you might want to check out Caliente. Haven't been there myself for a while, but it was VERY nice, physically.

Thank you. I have been to Caliente a couple of times. The Lifestylers are prominent. The facilities are very nice I agree.
We are just looking for a clean apartment and a quiet kick back place in the sun. Snow this weekend in Maine.
We would like to visit Paradise Valley in Georgia but I think that will wait for us until there is a vaccine.
We want to check out Latitude Margaritaville in Daytona.

carib cheers,

Carol,
You make me jealous. We might need to move to Florida For a month or two in the winter.
Sounds great!
Snowmobile traded for a jet ski? (Just aging)
It’s Beautiful in Maine in the summer I must say.
Thanks for your hard work on this great board.
carib cheers,
doctorj

doctorj--The winter is by far the best weather in Florida, say from now through late April. Snow?? What's that??? Haven't seen snow since 2005 and don't care to!! grin

We are hoping we can pull this off. Looks like Daytona area for a couple of days. Then maybe Cypress Cove, then a rental in Lutz for a few days that will give us options.

Best wishes for your trip! I know you have been trying really hard to get away.

The only thing I would say is that, in my (not so humble) opinion, that the Atlantic coast S*CKS, versus the Gulf Coast of Florida. The water is dirtier, rougher, and there are no sunsets like this one from just a couple of days ago..

Carol,
You knew you would get some backtalk, right? grin Before we hit the Cove for the winter, next month we're heading to a condo next to Blind Creek Beach (near Ft.Pierce on the east coast) for a month. Beautiful beach, great sunrises AND clothing optional. None of the latter on the west coast (yet, but good luck to the effort to get one!).

Doc, you might want to consider a day visit to Playalinda or Blind Creek beaches, both CO.

Chuck

I’ll throw my 2 cents in đŸ˜€

I spent my first 22 years in Syracuse NY and never went south of Pennsylvania in all those years. In June of 1968 I graduated from Syracuse university with a BSEE degree, an AFROTC commission as a 2nd Lt, and orders to Patrick AFB on the east coast of Florida on the barrier island just south of Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral.

It took me a few months for my metabolism to get adjusted to the Florida weather but once it did the weather was wonderful. Once the Bermuda high established itself in March and the trade winds set up we had no daytime rains until late October. What little rainfall we experienced was in the dark of the night. The daytime rain clouds would form up west of US 1 around lunch time and then start moving west to hit Orlando just after lunch time and then the Tampa Bay are in late afternoon.

Life was good!

DoctorJ, allow me to put in my .02. We are members at Lake Como in Lutz, FL. Really laid back, heated pool, restaurant and bar on site. They have small amount of rentals like motel rooms (no cooking) and 4 cabins (similar to a park model) with cooking. Nice grounds to walk around, a few trails, pickleball courts, petanque, volleyball etc. They are an AANR affiliated location. Rates are reasonable. This weekend they are having annual freedom festival which salutes veterans. The website for them is www.lakecomonaturally.com

Magpie,
Great to hear from you guys. We certainly will. We were supposed to be in St. Martin but canceled. We haven’t booked Florida yet but hope to do so.
Crazy world.
Deputydog,
Thanks for the recommendation. We had talked about checking it out.
carib cheers,

Carol- just a little sample of the great sunrises here on the East Coast near Blind Creek. Taken from our balcony.
By the way, Blind Creek Beach is looking good, although there's quite a lot of erosion and there's been incredible winds this week which has limited our beach time. Still with temps in the mid-upper 70s and quite a bit of sun, am not complaining.

Chuck--I'll just have to take your words on sunrises in general, but hard to beat a couple of these sunsets from the Gulf, last month.

Gorgeous pics, Carol! Seems like the colors are more vivid over there for sure. Not sure why though. BTW we do have sunsets too, out of the front of our condo.
I started a separate thread on Blind Creek info.
