Wow.. Even if it was 100% certain that every single person on the ship at departure was free from the virus, the first stop would change all of that.

....and yet charterers and private villa guests would need to quarantine and wear a fukakta bracelet and test three different times...SMH....

The government gets a substantial head tax for every body off a cruise ship, and it appears the public coffers are empty. Plus, these excursions are 100% controlled, which means money into pre-determined pockets. So far, at least, they can't do that with boaters or villa renters, although right now someone may be trying to work out how that could be required.

If one wants to do substantial reading on the subject, there are a number of specific recommendations about how ships can safely resume cruising. Here is a link to that report. LinkAnd a blurb from Cruise Critic for the Cliff's Notes version. LinkPersonally, I think the bubble deal is stupid. BTW, I think the 'no sail' order has been extended to December 1 now, but not sure. It appears that one thing that will happen for sure is that folks will ONLY be able to leave the ship on designated shore excursions.

This sounds similar to a request for an exclusive zone at Magens Bay on St Thomas to keep cruise ship passengers isolated on a controlled excursion. https://stjohnsource.com/2020/08/23/269898/

I did a couple of cruises 100 years ago. The whole pleasure for me was to get away from the crowds. I always rented a car for every island we came to and having determined where I wanted to go we would go there. The idea of being herded around like sheep is insane.

I agree that the idea of getting herded around is not appetizing. We have done over 30 cruises, most of them a while ago, and I can count on one hand the number of 'cruise ship excursions' that we have done, which includes two that we took on our first cruise!
