SXM Day 5 – October 8, 2020
I really hope I’m not boring you with the daily reports, but we’re creatures of habit. Nothing much different to report about. Breakfast on the patio, a morning walk and then a drive over to Orient Beach around 10:00.

The beach was busier today, but still not crowded. I think there were twelve chairs set up on Orient and maybe eight occupied. Three of us in our own beach chairs. Not many clouds in the sky today, the ocean temperature is warm and the waters are calm. I’m not sure if I miss the cruise boat passengers. I think I do, a little, as many times it’s comical to see how some people react to the clothing optional section of the beach. I keep telling myself to keep enjoying the peace and quiet. It’s never going to like this again.

After a couple of hours of reading and two beers for me, we packed up for lunch. We stopped at Super U in Hope Estate to stock up on stuff. While there, the shelves were being stocked with pre-made baguette sandwiches. We chose the ham and cheese for 4 euro, bought a bag of potato chips and enjoyed a delicious and inexpensive lunch on our villa patio.
The afternoon was spent soaking in the pool.

We left for dinner around 6:15 PM. Traffic through Cole Bay was heavy and slow. Not sure if it was the bicyclists that were slowing things down or not. Once we got to the hill, traffic was better. Dinner was at Chesterfield’s. There were only 6 of us in the restaurant. Again, it is so sad to see. We were able to sit at the bar as no one else was there. Marc ordered Chicken in Pepper Sauce and I had Chicken and Shrimp in a Bernaise sauce. The portions are huge, served on platters, not plates. Both meals were delicious and I have enough for two more meals. Geoff, the owner, arrived on his scooter. He stopped over to chat. It was great catching up with him and sharing stories.

That sums up the day!

Nice non-boring update. We feel the same way about the "cruisers' - if they're not gawking and/or taking pictures we enjoy them. Offer a smile and they may join us someday.

I'm going where the weather suits my clothes.

Not boring at all and shouldn't matter anyway. What counts is you're having a great time at you're pace. Enjoy.

Thanks for your daily reports. We were supposed to arrive tomorrow roflcopters 3 weeks with a villa in Orient Village. But it got to close to our cut-off time for a decision on canceling or not, so we decided to wait until April to return. We missed this past April and now October. Please think of us when you get in that nice warm water on Orient Beach. We are so glad that Cedric is still making a go of it. He is so much fun to talk with on our daily trips to the beach when we go. Make sure you keep up the reports, since we are now living our vacation through you and your husband. Read an extra book for my wife and tell your hubby to take an extra nap for me. We'll be thinking of you! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

Not bored at all. Keep the reports coming. As for Chesterfield's...sorry to hear it is so slow there. That restaurant has been one of our faves for many years there. Next time you go...and if you really want a delicous treat, order the duck. It is the best anywhere, and every year have to have my fix of it at least twice or three times during our three weeks on island. It is made crispy on the outside, baked in a banana sauce, with a slice of grilled pineapple on the top. That with their fries, is heaven on earth!!! can't wait for March!!!

Thank you for taking the time with the daily reports. They aren't boring at all. It's funny, I feel the same way sometimes, doing the same thing every day, people are going to think we had a boring vacation. Just the opposite. We're doing something that we totally enjoy and something we certainly can't do at home. So happy for you both to be able to be on the island having a great time. Keep the reports coming....Thank you!

Hi doctorj. I’m not sure if Cedric closes on Monday or if he was closed due to the weather. The beach loungers, however we’re all locked up (tied up).
