Heard that BBB (Buccaneer beach bar closed Is that true? Has any one shown interest in reopening/buying if it has gone belly up. I can understand, if so, as the government lock down is having major small business impacts all over the world.
BBB was a “ go to place” for many in Simpson bay and Dutch side of island. That will be hard to replace, if they do not reopen.
So, any idea if Wanda is still on island or what she might be up to? I remember her at SSBB back in the day. The old days...before SXM became overly commercialized.
But of course Wanda owns her own home in Point Blanc , has grown children and is okay . She was paid out for her years service to Buccaneer. I have know Wanda way back in the 80's when she use to work for Bobby Bower in From Street ; Calaloo .
Why did they want to get rid of Wanda anyway? She was great and knew where all the bodies are buried. Never liked those owners. Made the place family friendly. Yuck! I don't want to drink with a bunch of little kids running around. i
Ah Irina, you are right, I'm sure, that she knew where the bodies were buried!! As to her being "great", well, I would beg to differ on that.. I thought she always had a major attitude..
I always thought she was a great asset to the places she worked at. Once, she came out from behind the bar to speak to me and I started laughing. It was the first time I ever saw her feet! LOL Cheers And Cheers to Wanda! And Neil of course. i
It's funny how the island holds so many different memories for those of us who have been visiting for a while. We generally go to BBB once or twice a trip, usually just for a drink before we go somewhere else for dinner. For many years, it was where we met our friends on the evening we arrived. It's convenient for us, as we stay at La Vista Beach. That said, I never found the bar staff there to be the least bit friendly, and I have no idea who Wanda is. There are so many places where we're welcomed with smiles and hugs, and have lifelong friends. Not a negative comment at all, just interesting how different people have different experiences in the same place. That's what makes this island so very special to all of us.
Where is the kitchen for BBB? I was never quite sure.
I'm with you Georgia. We stopped a few times, as it's a place people wanted us to meet them as it was centrally located. But it was never our "hang out" place.

I, too, agree Wanda was an asset to SSBB and to Buccaneer Beach Bar. I am happy you noted this as others were quite negative in their regard to her. Thank you for that. We always found Wanda to be friendly and engaging and kind to "remember" us from visit to visit.
