It looks to be wobbling a little north of St. Maarten/ St. Martin but it can still bring heavy rain and wind. Florida needs to keep track of this TD13 because the models show it missing the big islands that would have weakened the system.

Yes. As I posted above it's forecast to be 60 miles north of St Maarten and will bring 35 mph winds and heavy rain to the island.

Just figured out the GOM means "Gulf of Mexico"... Anyway, that model has it basically going into Tampa, which is a really bad scenario for us, personally. We have had a really bad week here, so don't want to even think about this..

Updated spaghetti models still have TD13 tracking north of SXM. The Gulf of Mexico has two storm systems heading and meeting just a social distance away from each other?

StormCarib has the following with regard to TD 13 for SXM "The approximate Closest Point of Approach (CPA) is located near 18.6N, 63.0W or about 37.8 miles (60.9 km) from your location. The estimated time of when the center of the storm will be at that location is in about 16 hours and 19 minutes from now (Saturday, August 22 at 1:24AM AST)."

Tropical storm Laura has been found by hurricane hunters to be further south than they thought.

The best source of information is the NHC (National Hurricane Center). If you want a LOT more information, this is the best: https://spaghettimodels.com/

SXM should be getting an outer band right now, with more intensity hitting Guadeloupe and heading for SXM.

Now a warning, coming this way. Luckily, just a tropical storm.

Stay safe... It jogged to the south? Basically now going over St. Maarten/ St. Martin.
Some have been saying without hurricane hunter planes flying into the storm it is harder to predict because there is not as much data coming from air and marine traffic. The cut back on air travel has cut back on data to feed to the computer models. The models are all over the place with Laura so just prepare and not rely so much on spaghetti models I guess?

Here in New Orleans, we have 14 going West of us, and 13 (now named Laura) going East of us. It's gonna be close.

I was told by a respected and knowledgeable meteorologist there is no such thing as heat lightning. Lightning is lightning plain and simple.

Everything ok here. There may be some local flooding as there has been some rain, but I don't think too much. Still a bit windy showery this morning, but I can sit on my balcony quite comfortably.

Good news, Elaine! thanks. Yes, it will be interesting to see how Lake Atrium did. I figure Lake Mullet will probably be there though??

Lake Mullet has been pretty good most of the time in recent years, usually just a pond. So long as they keep the little canal clear. Still getting some squalls, so not venturing in the car any time soon. Happy I can sit on the balcony a breathe in the cool air! So sick of AC!

OK, glad to hear that re Lake Mullet. I certainly know what you mean about a/c. We enjoy it when we get to October/November around here and we can turn our a/c off and have the doors open.

It is if you want to refer to it as "Heat Lightening" but it really isn't. Refer to the links above.
