So, in light of all the new regulations for tourists coming to the island, has anyone found travel insurance that covers COVID? I just checked Sky Med, and they do not.

I found this online. This link below is for the annual plan. You can choose different types of coverage either covering up to 30 days, 45 days, or 60 day trips outside the us.

This one below is the plan where you can buy just for certain dates.

The regs don't say you have to have "covid " insurance. Just proof of medical insurance. Big difference.

Correct.....and I would assume if you have Medicare as your insurance it would require an additional private policy to cover out of country expenses.

Wendy, as I read the requirements, health insurance is required, and Covid insurance is "recommended".

Thanks everyone. I am required to have insurance as part of my residency (Sky Med), so guess I'm OK.

Wendy--Sky Med is NOT medical insurance. It is JUST medical evac. I have to think you already know that? And as you stated, Sky Med does not cover Covid. As of NOW Covid insurance is not required, but wait till next week, as they will probably change things AGAIN. cloud

Wendy, when did they start requiring Med Evacuation? We never had it until about 4 years ago and had no issues with immigration. We ARE required to have health insurance which, thanks to Bill's Navy service, we have international coverage

Just as a point of information, Medicare part F (a Medigap policy) does cover international medical expenses up to $50,000. Part F is closed to new customers, but I believe Part G now offers the same. It is the most expensive Medigap option, but my husband and I have always had it primarily because under normal conditions we spend 8 weeks a year in St. Maarten. We also have a Skymed policy.

Same with my DAN (Divers Alert) insurance. Only covers to age 70 for WA State residents. Bummer me being 73.

Hmmm. Interesting. I just turned 70, and my part F policy is through United Healthcare (AARP sponsored plan). I just called them to confirm. There is no age restriction on part F through my plan.

I also have the AARP United Health Care Part F. But will they cover Covid?

I would recommend you call them directly for that answer.

Elaine, at the time we applied, we had to show proof of health insurance in the US and medevac insurance. It's possible that's no longer required?

We started applying in 2008 and med evac was never required since then. Just health coverage. Must be before that, as you've been here much longer than us. xxx

Maybe the fact you live here year round makes a difference? We applied in 2002, I think.
