We did it. We just cancelled our SXM trip.

It was just getting too complicated for us.

With our ages and health problems, it didn't seem like a good idea.

Didn't want to wait any longer, so they could rent to another--- younger and braver than us.

frown Hate doing this, we are getting too old to waste another year.
We were so spoiled, since we have been going since the 80's, twice a year, and one of the oldies at BSV.
We really miss everyone there.

It is complicated and your decision makes perfect sense...

I completely understand. We would've been neighbors again. wink

But it is looking extremely unlikely that we will go either at that time.

Do you have another planned?

Maybe we will see you in April??
This is so sad.

Carol, it was the beginning of November.

I wish them a lot of luck with so many people not going.

Terri--totally understand. Even people who aren't in high risk groups, like me, can't figure out how to go, because the rules keep changing every day, and hard to comply when the rules are always changing.

Sorry to read you felt the need to do this but I fully understand.

It remains to be seen as to what we will ultimately do but I hope we’re able to keep our current trip plans. I would hate to have to cancel another one this year but when push comes to shove we’ll make the best decision for our personal health and well being, not to mention our personal comfort zone.

That said, I think you need at least three next year and I hope you do it!

Respectfully,

pat

I am going to do the same as you did by the end of this week. We were scheduled to stay on the French side for the last 2 weeks of October and first week in November. Not going to happen. I also have some problems and just don't want to chance it. Age is also a problem for my wife and I and I hate to not make the visit, but we are hoping in another 6 months we will be able to return. Our realtor is a sweetheart and will help me get through all the changes without any hassle. I just want to change the airfare before its too late and I have to pay for the insurance again. If I make changes before a certain date I can just transfer the flight and my insurance gets transferred with it. No need to lose it and have to buy it once again. We are hoping for mid-April for maybe 4 weeks since we had to change our plans twice now. Just have to hope our health holds up until then.

Most of us are in complete agreement. It is fundamentally a risk/benefit decision and age and medical condition weighs heavily on all of us. The pandemic has forced change especially to those of us that are so used to "quick fixes" to problems.

You made the right decision Terry. I did not make my reservations for my usual November trip. I was waiting to see what transpired as the months progressed. I have decided that because of all the restrictions, it would not be an enjoyable vacation and will postpone until things settle down worldwide. I love to travel, but it is a time to decide what is truly important in the big scheme of things. My health rates higher than travel during these uncertain times.

Terry, so sorry you had to cancel another trip. We are going to be a smaller group than usual for October into November, but none of us has pulled the plug yet. It's a personal decision and you have to do what's right for you and Rit. Vacations are supposed to be restful and relaxing. You shouldn't have to worry about any risks. I've canceled 2 trips already this year. February for health and March/April for Covid. Keeping my fingers crossed I won't have to cancel a 3rd trip. I do have our usual reservations for March/April. Like someone said above, if I have to cancel Oct/Nov, I think it might just be necessary to go twice next winter, LOL.

Thanks for all the replies. It's nice to hear from others.

It's been book and cancel the last couple of years, but really don't want to complain, when so many
have it worse. We are doing so well here in Connecticut.

Mike, we might have been the ones, who said we may need to add on another trip---it's definitely
in the plans when life is normal again!!

It's difficult when you can't fix things as Tom said----that's how I felt when we were out of power the last 7 days with no cell service.
There was nothing we could do---just wait.....hopefully we can wait this virus out without
too many people suffering.

Sorry you had to cancel...understand your disappointment well. We are shooting for June 2021 with fingers and toes crossed. In the meantime, I will cope by planning for the trip of a lifetime to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Since we had to cancel our June 2020 trip, I can justify spending more than I would have for a nice villa and perhaps some bling for my wife to make it extra special. I almost enjoy planning as much as I do the vacation...I said ALMOST. smile
