Heading out on a cruise in January and my kids are begging for a helicopter ride. I know St. Thomas offers them. Any suggestions?

I think there are some helicopters out by the airport, but can't really help you beyond that. Not a local method of transportation. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Google Caribbean Buzz, that's the name of the local company.

If you decide to do a flight - make sure you go between Eleven to Two timeframe. You want the Sun above you beating down on the water. It is magical how deep you can see into the water.
Many moons ago I used to fly as an aircrewman in the USCG out of Puerto Rico. An afternoon patrol was ALWAYS breathtaking over the VI.

We just did a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, and it started just after sunrise. While we picked that time-slot for financial reasons (cheaper) it turns out that if you go in the afternoon the sun has had long enough to beat down on the land and generate thermals - so the ride is much rougher.

Thermals are not so much a problem over water.
Inside the helo of course is warmer in the afternoon, but you do have a big fan that hopefully keeps turning above you.
For the amazing transparent blue/green color you need the angle of the sun to be high. And of course polarized sunglasses help a bunch too.

We are doing the afternoon heli tour of the Grand Canyon next Friday, only because we are not early risers, especially in Vegas.

Yeah, it was hard to get up at 5am to meet the limo at 5:50am. Hope you have a good time Evan, we loved it!
