Are shorts, flip flops and a tank top acceptable in the San Juan casino's?

At the El San Juan, proper dress is required in the evening. I believe this includes the lobby and the casino. Not sure about the day time.

the casinos are usually freezing anyway, so long pants and shirt will be more comfy

Long pants? Seems like it would be a little warm walking the streets at night.

It's been a while since we've been to a casino in San Juan, and it wasn't the El San Juan, but then (maybe 10 years ago), dress in the casinos in San Juan was MUCH better than any other place we have been in the Caribbean. The locals were dressed to the nines. Eric wore long pants, for sure. Not sure whether they would refuse entry to someone in shorts and flip flops, etc., but, as of when we were there anyway, you would definitely look out of place.

We were denied entry to a casino in Martinique because the guys had on shorts. And someone I know was kicked out of the bar at the Four Seasons in Nevis because the sun had set while they were there. Always travel with a pair of long pants...

I actually didn't know there were casinos in Martinique. I learned something today! ....Knowing you, I'm kind of surprised you 'darkened the door' of a Four Seasons, but everyone has to slum once in a while!

I just called the El San Juan and they told me nice shorts (not cut off jean) are acceptable in the casino and lobby in the evening. They went on to say flip flops were not acceptable.

Interesting. The last time I was there they didn't allow it at night, but daytime was acceptable. Once you are in the daytime and on a winning streak or whatever, they don't put you out. But walk out and try to get back in at night. No chance. That's how it was a few years ago.
