Hi, I read a post here that had good info for a traveler "tee" that I think was looking for advice from STT for a day trip to BVI and Baths. I wasn't sure if those same boats would be the recommendation for leaving from St John.
We really want to see the Baths and wanted some advice on the boats, crew, trip, etc. There will only be 3 of us and we are not really into the "large crowd, squeeze in to find a place to sit" thing.
Thanks all!

In February, we were going to share a private charter with friends who wanted to see the Baths.

Not many of the private 6-pas charters run all the way to the Baths so you will probably be looking for an excursion boat.

Our friends used Stromy Petrol (sp?) and they liked their day.

I don't know if it qualifies as a "squeeze in" type of trip. I wouldn't like that either. Another thing that would not have liked was how the entire boat had to sit together at lunch at Cooper Island. We happened to be there the same time and saw them there.

When staying on VG, we saw lots of group boats going through the Baths and it will be crowded and they will move you through quickly.

You might consider Busy Bee charters (www.busybeevi.com) out of coral Bay.

We rented a boat and did the trip ourselves when staying at the Westin a number of years ago, but I know they offered group trips as well. Not sure who provides it, but you could probably check with them.

Stormy Petrel and Pirate's Penny carry only 10 or 12 people. They serve top shelf drinks and give great service. I'm not sure what the problem is with sitting together at Cooper Island? Maybe I'm a social butterfly or something, but I enjoy meeting people when I'm on a fun quest. If you really want to go by yourselves, you can get a Naughty Nymph or the like with a captain, but it's gonna cost ya.
