Thanks for the info. While the two sides adds character for me the tourist, long-term probably wastes money and economies of scale for those that were born/live there.
I would find it hard to believe that in the year 2121, the local people would not find away to ditch the old world and create a separate one island, new world.

No. We spend our two weeks in Orient Village. Other than to and from the airport I haven't been to the Dutch side in seven years.

We returned to St Maarten shortly after Irma and pretty much had to stay on the Dutch side without a problem. We had stopped running over to GC before that, since the drive at night wasn't as easy as all our previous years. . With age and health staying close to home, home being Beachside Villas, has pretty much been fine with us. It has everything we could possible need.
The only thing that would stop us from going would be the safety issue.

I would miss the days at La Playa, Grand Case and Friars but we would and do plan on going in November and then again in April. No hesitation as long as I don't have to wear a mask to the beach or at dinner.
I prefer the Isle seat

We are booked in a villa on the French side mid November and would not go to SXM if we can’t access the French side. It is our new reservation from our canceled May trip. Sure hope we can go. Stay well, carib cheers doctorj

There is supposed to be a new announcement this morning at 9.00am about PJIA, there is a rumor that if PJIA lets in Americans then the French are going to close the border.

We are booked for Oct. If we can't go into France, then so be it. We can enjoy the Dutch side without any problems. WE, like most people need to to just get away. I received an email from our resort at OBBR yesterday with the guide lines for opening which is July 1. Masks will be required at the checkin area and courtyard but not at the pool, restaurant or the beach. We can live with that. Oct. can't come soon enough.

Press conference has supposedly been moved to 2:30 this afternoon, according to Island 92.
