I don't see where the airport was addressed in that article...seems to me that "all businesses" would include the airport. Am I missing something? Also says that phase 4 is the final phase, which seems to imply that everything will return to "normal".

I don’t have the answers to your question but I’m pretty sure Elaine is right on the money with her information, Over many years, at both the present airport and the old one, the airport never seemed to fall under the rules that dictated the operation of most island businesses. They seemed to be pretty much an entity unto themselves and made their own calls as to how and when their businesses would be open.

Respectfully,

pat

PM will decide, in collaboration with the airport. I believe the airport said they are ready, but she has the ultimate decision. She said a few weeks back they were working on the airport opening plan and I believe she said the plan should be ready by June 15th, which is today. We'll see.

But she was mentioning July 1st , but this also has to do how the US will be operating with their flights.

The way the US is continuing to spike I doubt US and probably Canadian tourist will be able to travel without very strict requirements. Looking forward to what is announced.

If you look at the data from the rolling 7 day average the US is not "continuing to spike" but rather holding steady as a whole. It is important to note that the deaths continue to decline. I too am looking forward to the announcement and hopeful that SXM opens back up to tourist in a manner that is medically responsible instead of draconian and also allows the great people of the island to begin to make a living again.

Nothing from the PM yet. Probably have a lot to work out and consider before PJIA will be open for commercial tourist flights. I don't see it happening for US or Canadian flights for quite awhile.

This is the time she usually holds her live broadcast and no notice on the govt page. So it won't be today.

And many states, such as NC, are experiencing increases in cases because of huge increases in testing. As a percentage of tests, our positive cases are pretty much level if you look at a seven-day average (although the MSM will tell you otherwise).

Don't you think it will depend on what the availability of tests are . You take the 1 hr. test at the airport and you will know before you get on the Jet ?

The US is not continuing to spike. That is a false narrative. The US continues to expand testing and is currently testing over 500k per day. Because the numbers of testing continue to increase, they will find more cases, but this is a deceptive number. In Florida they keep reporting that numbers are increasing. This is only due to the increased testing. Visits to doctors with covid-19 like illness is not increasing nor is the percentage of positive test out of all test completed. Currently in Florida only 4% of test come back positive. The state wants to keep that number under 5%.

Well. California, New Mexico, Arizona and Southern Florida has had increases in hospitalizations and that is only the start. I just pray it's not the future of things to come.

Unfortunately a lot of mixed or wrong information is being used to make policy that affects huge amounts of people and money. And of course people seem to dwell on the so called bad news without fully understanding it. So you end up with prolonged or unneeded lockdowns that in the end become counterproductive for 99.7 % people that will never get this virus ...let alone die from it. And the debate goes on and people suffer more.

This is a incorrect statement
USA has 1.2 million active cases
Canada has 29,000
No comparison
Our gorgeous canadian Island we live on is not welcoming any US tourist any time soon, same will go for other countries

Sorry Jonny, Canada has 98,410 confirmed cases with a tenth of the population of the USA
.

Another count from the NY Times has Canada with 98,787

And NONE of this has ANYTHING to do with the original topic. Hopefully there will be an announcement with regard to that soon.

In the meantime, this one is done.
