No response from the powers that be in SXM commenting on this article. Or if there will be quarantine.

Correct, LOTS of unanswered questions need to be addressed for this to actually happen and be remotely feasible.

Why would they comment on the article? Gov't will decide when flights will return, not airlines

Sad that government seems to want to let the island keep bleeding jobs , risk many businesses going broke , people not eating and be so vague on so many Critical questions. What happens when they open and one person has covid19? Are they gonna order everything shut and send The tourist , the only thing that keeps that economy going home again? It’s gonna happen just like this virus is going to be around coming and going for a long time probably. People will have to adapt and learn to live with it Or get use to just hiding in fear. The risk of dying from this is incredibly small. and 92% of the people that have died from it already had fragile or underlying prior health issues. This is an amazing virus. Almost every other cause of death is virtually disappeared, everything is coronavirus now. It’s serious but with precautions we can still live our lives. Hopefully SXM will not live in fear much longer And let the airport open as it desperately needs tourism dollars.

That was from Omaha Since Delta cancelled, they are REQUIRED by the DOT to refund in the same manner as payment was made. I have heard other reports of June flight cancelled so the article on Delta resuming flights to SXM was rather surprising.

DELTA ARTICLEFrom May 18, and an important snippet from the link above. " Here's a snapshot of where Delta is planning to fly in June. This schedule, including routes and frequency, remains subject to change due to the evolving nature of COVID-19. This page may be updated."

Agree foreversxm.
The world, including Sxm, had to put a dent into the virus spread, it has been dented.
This has allowed us to Medically prep for the long haul. We cannot shutdown for the long haul. Or there will be nothing but total economic collapse.
The virus is out there and we have to coexist with it. It is not kind to anyone especially the elderly and immune compromised who need to weigh the risks and perhaps very well park it for a year or two.

Hopefully SXM will not live in fear much longer And let the airport open as it desperately needs tourism dollars. I mean, you do understand that if this virus spreads out of control on this island they do not have the infrastructure to handle it, right? That this island is filled with a large elderly population (including my parents and family) that are most at risk to succumbing to this thing, right? I miss my parents. I was supposed to see my parents once already this year and again in August. I have nightmares weekly that last December will be the last time I ever see my parents. So I don't think there's ANYONE on this platform that wants to get back more than me - this isn't just about a vacation for me (tho I desperately need that too). But I also am not willing to put their fragile infrastructure at risk until they deem it's OK. You don't think they know how much the lack of tourists is hurting them? That they aren't stressing every day to weigh the risk factors? Let's cut everyone some slack here.

I agree with you angelface. SXM has to do what's right for the island residents and if that means halting tourism untill this is controlled so be it.

It’s a tough situation. It will be tougher if a large percentage Of the USA, SXM, and the world becomes destitute. There is an intersection point of economic standard of living and lockdown. We will find it one way or another sooner or later.

Perhaps more people should start considering how many people are being killed (literally killing them as in dying) by not opening things up. If you think there is not a significant death toll resulting from not opening up you are flat out wrong.
