The one thing the article doesn’t really emphasize is the like-kind refund only applies to the airline cancelling your flight or making huge and unsatisfactory changes to it. If you cancel the trip, even for Covide-19 reasons, they are NOT mandated to give full refunds and can get away with the vouchers if they are willing to give you anything.

Seems to me, if you spend the money to purchase a refundable ticket in the first place this becomes a total non-issue. No?
